Dark Souls 3

Ditched the pike and went eith broad sword i found, much more to my style and taking things down with ease now! Thrusting with the pike just didnt seem to work well for me though if timed right it works better according to the description! Done 2nd boss now!

I'm using ds4 and input mapper and it works without a hitch.
How kick works? It says RB +analog stick,is it all about timing?
Game is fast,I played DS2 SOTFS before DS3 was realease.Love it so far but I died few times.GREAT

He's a troll unfortunately :( Sometimes he is entertaining but he didnt even make it past firelink and he decides to rip the game a new one just because he was **** at it. His criticisms were a joke (if only they were funny). He says hes oldskool doing keyboard mode and controller mode is easy mode but then he complains about the toughness of the game lol. You can see in his video he just cant get on with the game at all. He does a similar review of the witcher 3. Lot of criticisms of that were just him being a dick to be honest (can i say that? :D). He says he doesnt do it for the hits/views and controversy but tbh he does really. ***** n giggles thats what hes in it for lol

I watch his channel and I find him entertaining, most of the time. But he seems to have a mission to hate on AAAs, which is getting a bit annoying. That said, Dark Souls 3 doesn't look like my thing.

Agreed.

Incredibly biased "Review". He needs to git gud.

^ Just saved £34.00

If your not going to buy the game based on an absolutely atrocious review, where the reviewer clearly hasn't even got past the first 10 minutes of the game, makes judgemental comments that completely contradict what the game is about, and also explains he cant do certain things - followed by showing said thing in the video..... then I seriously doubt you were ever going to get it anyway.

If you played the first two and had a good time with them, then DS3 is a no brainer. Of course your not going to like the third installment of a game if you didnt like the first two. That last time I checked isnt ****ing rocket science to comprehend.

Started again and for the life of me I cannot beat iudex gundyr as a thief. I can parry him a few times but when he changes to blob mode I get destroyed. Can you even parry the blob?

edit:steam down looks like that it for tonight

I started as theif, your strong point with the dagger is quick attacks and use your weapon arts to dart around.

I do wish I started as a knight to be honest, having that bit more defense would have been ideal. But I've made it so far.

So, speaking of which, I've now spend 8 hours in the first area. Yesterday, I dropped my summon sign very early on in the area and ran through the entire area with some dude. It was clearly his first time there so we blitzed the entire area and I showed him all the shortcuts and item locations etc. We did gud...... Until we got to the first boss and he summoned someone else who simply sat in the middle of the room not helping. Shame on you random person.

Anyway, I have now FULLY explored the best I can. Unlocked all doors etc. So I've gone to the next area, claimed the bonfire under the bridge and will get stuck in tonight.

Question, this deserves spoiler tags as the answer could be a spoiler...

In the chapel where the woman hands you the banner, there is a wooden 'stand' on the left as you walk into the chapel, if you hit it with a fire bomb or a sword imbued with fire, it catches fire... And stays like that. What is this for?

I've got my uchi to +2 as well, doing decent enough damage, I just need to learn to avoid taking damage!

Overall, I'm 100% hooked. This is what DS2 should have been.

Ha, come on.

Yea that review is a bit over the top, but his opinion is a valid as anyone elses.

The problem with the dark souls franchise is that the fanboyism runs so deep that people won't hear anything bad about them. That's what he was alluding to in the initial few minutes of the review.

Honestly though, you've got a guy who's not had much experience with these games playing it, saying he doesn't like it and explaining why.

Then you've got people in this thread who are card carrying fans of the series saying he's wrong and that his review is biased.

I think you need to look up the definition of bias and who it really applies to in this circumstance.

Personally, I think the guy is a ******. But yea, everyone has their opinions etc. But when you start spouting out dramatic remarks about stuff simply to get a rise from people and get views. The 'opinions' go out of the window. He's the same with every popular title.

Don't like him.

Thats just not true sorry, Im 50/50 on pushing the buy button but waiting for 21:9 support.

Never played a Souls game and this summed it up for me :(

Whilst you are correct about fanboyism, this guy has a similar review for every popular title - he just does it for attention.

If you take that guy seriously, then more fool you.

Who's worse? The idiot, or the idiot who follows the idiot?

The community absolutely tore DS2 a new one, People like the games, the offer an experience you cant get anywhere else, but saying were all deluded when DS2 was destroyed left right and centre by the community for the smallest issues goes completely against this.

Its not DS3 hes judging , its the first 10 minutes of DS3 - the difference between the two is pretty important. Hes then making hypocritical remarks on a product he has literally given 10 minutes....ethically thats a little ****ed up.

He's entitled to his opinion but it certainly isn't valid as a genuine pc game reviewer. Dark Souls and DS2 were huge releases on the PC. This is his job, he earns money from his reviews (note i don't think he does it by being credibile). The reason why his opinion isn't valid is because its like giving the game to someone who knows nothing about gaming and is not interested in gaming or this type of game. This is why he moans about things like poor keyboard and mouse support (editing the keys). He doesnt have a credibile excuse for not using a controller as the game imo is built with that in mind. Its not a surprise as the previous games were the same. Then he uses his classic (must be by now) criticism of the combat which he says is just trash trash trash then boss. then trash trash trash then boss again etc etc. He did a similar criticism of witcher 3 combat. He reduces the combat to idiotic levels...ignores the complexity....ignores the depth...ignores...the nuances of it...ignores the lore and gameworld. Basically its a review a 5 year old could have done not someone who is supposed to be an avid professional pc game player.

Calm down, Dave. No-one is calling your mum names so there's no need to be calling each other idiots.

I didn't say I took it seriously, and I prefaced my post by saying that the review was over the top. But that said, there were some legitimate points in it.

I'm not trolling anyone here. I very rarely shell out over £30 for a game nowadays, so when I do I've got high expectations. It might be that I've got Souls burnout because I've played so much of the franchise, but I was hoping that they'd do more with the game. It feels like they've barely touched PhyreEngine - it doesn't look much better than DS2 with DSfix did. It's been two years since DS2 came out - I don't see two years of improvements here. It feels like a cash in. They've tarted up the engine a bit, changed a few bits, added a few bits then just drafted in a standard story with standard bosses.

There's nothing innovative about this game. It scratches the itch if you're a Dark Souls fan, but that's about it.

Given the reception of DS3 so far, I think you can almost guarantee that in a year or two there'll be a DS4 which is very similar. I'm interested to know how many times From can pull it off before people start expecting more.

Wrong.

From Soft has already said they are taking things in another direction after DS3.

Also how much of the game have you actually played? Because the story and bosses are not average.

They said a similar thing after DS2, so we'll see I guess. I hope they do.

For the record I've played about 10 hours. For what I've seen I'm probably just over a third of the way through.

That's on a background of about 300 hours played in the other games.

"If" being the appropriate word. I'm the calmest person you'll meet, unless I have a bipolar episode. I know where you're coming from, and you are right in a sense, and I think From Software have realized this and fine tuned DS3 to be the most fun DS yet(which it is) as a swansong. I love From Software, they make modern day Ghouls and Ghosts, proper old school difficulty. I can't wait to see what they do next, but one thing I am sure of, is I'm not a huge fan of Bloodbourne, just too depressing.
