Dark Souls 3

Ha, come on.

Yea that review is a bit over the top, but his opinion is a valid as anyone elses.

The problem with the dark souls franchise is that the fanboyism runs so deep that people won't hear anything bad about them. That's what he was alluding to in the initial few minutes of the review.

Honestly though, you've got a guy who's not had much experience with these games playing it, saying he doesn't like it and explaining why.

Then you've got people in this thread who are card carrying fans of the series saying he's wrong and that his review is biased.

I think you need to look up the definition of bias and who it really applies to in this circumstance.

His opinion is valid? He has spent less than 20 minutes in the game, just like he did with PTD and hes trashing it wihtout knowing ANYTHINg about it. Making stupid claims like the Knight is the only "Class" taht can manage the first boss (which isnt even a boss) and he cant tell what the second boss ( first boss) is going to do which is also false. He says he cannot parry then proceeds to parry in the video and the game is all repetition with no variation at all. Everything is the same etc. He claims all "Classes" are the same (wtf classes, really?) just because they all start with a weapon+shield.

Hes clueless about everything.

Oh and Mad Max and Just Cause 3 are amazing great games Worth a Buy recommended by him even though they're the pinnacle of repetition and lack of variation and no depth.

I started as the Herald as i wanted the pike which tbh isnt the playstyle for me and im not really using the miracles, wondering if i should just carry on or restart as something with points spent in my favour. Tbh for first run through i should just continue

Got to say I agree with the comments on the falling standard of the Worth a Buy channel these days. He is a comedian first and foremost if you ask me, basically trying to be Chubby Brown. You can't take any review be does now at all seriously unfortunately, pretty much coincides with when he started using the bell. It is pretty much click bait now. If you watch his videos knowing that you aren't seriously going to get anything resembling a thorough and even review, then you may still at least get a laugh now and again, but its certainly no use to anyone thinking of buying a game or not.

Thats just not true sorry, Im 50/50 on pushing the buy button but waiting for 21:9 support.

Never played a Souls game and this summed it up for me :(

Its being worked on now, but not by the usual guys (HaYDeN or Helifax) AFAIK.

I think Helifax had a play but he concluded that any fix would be a whole lot different from the ones used to fix DS, DS2 and DS - SOTFS.

The guy actively working on it at the moment is Kaldaien. He was the guy that fixed the 21:9 support for Dragon Dogma. He has worked on 2 variations of the fix at the moment (VERY VERY VERY 'alpha') if thats the right word. Neither fix 21:9 but it is his top priority he states.

With HaYDen not on it, dont expect a fix via FW.

He has admitted its frustrating though.

I do not know HaYDeN, Kaldaien or Helifax personally but I do paypal support these fixes.

They do the work a lazy developer doesnt. I cannot fathom why 21:9 or multi monitor support hasnt been put in (I dont see it as a major advantage in PvP - potentially seeing a roll backstab before anyone else does at 16:9?).

From software must have been aware of the mod community work on it. The fixes are not vac bannable on steam so why not implement?

I might start again tbh, wasted points. But there is an NPC who can let you re-spec up to 5 times. Just don't know how long it will take to get to her.

The only miracle I use is heal. Add one to faith as a knight and you can have it cheap. Also, add one to intelligence and you can have the magic weapon buff, which you can buy off a NPC in Firelink shrine, pretty early in the game.

Knight is a stress free class, and since you have done all the areas up till now, it won't take you long to get where you're currently at.

Warrior looks good.

Sorcery would be tricky methinks.

I'm in love with how it is more fast paced compared to DS2, on my first play through and I'm rolling around wearing nothing but that weird wizard hat thing that has the eye holes cut out :p

Soooo, anyone got an answer on why I can set fire to a random stand in the chapel where the lady is on the throne (tehe)? On the left as you enter the double doors after the knights in the red capes. In the High Wall or Lothric.

Here I've marked out it's location:

You can fight another boss in that room at any time in the game, if you kill the NPC that's sitting in the chair. If you're not fairly far into the game, I'd probably not recommend this boss fight, as it's definitely one of the harder ones in the game, though arguably one of the best.

Anyone find the overall world design a bit... eh? Like the actual environmental details are great, probably some of the best in the series, but I'm really not liking how everything just seems to be on these high up floating mountains, really breaks my immersion when I look off the edges in some places and just see repeating geometry and endless textures. Not a cohesilvely built world, kinda feels like a cop-out given their story reasoning. I know that not every area can have that meticulously hand crafted feel, but the sense of a "copy-paste" jobs starts to settle in, or maybe I'm just being nit picky :D Also I hope the environments themselves diverse soon, kinda getting tired of all this cobblestone :D

These quest lines you pick up from NPC's at Firelink Shrine are getting pretty interesting though. And it feels great being "in the moment" while everyone else is playing. So much so that I accidentally put down my summon sign mid-fight instead of drinking my Estus and got summoned almost immediately :D

Awesome thanks, I know you can kill her to get the boss, but I'll leave that for a bit, I'm mainly asking about the whole burning the stand thing. What part does that play?

Dude! I'm 100% thinking the same, even though I'm in the first area, I hope they vary like DS1, the varying places made it feel HUGE! Forests, dungeons, depths, swamps, lava, towns, sewers, crystal cave, library!!! I mean, the list goes on...

I really hope it's the same here.

Well I've been in sewers(not quite the depths!), towns, cathedrals but I agree with you, it has obviously been heavily inspired by Bloodborne. I can say there is forests\gardens and bright areas, lava etc. then the DLC.

EDIT: The level design so far doesn't touch Dark Souls tbh, but if you're a Bloodborne fan you'll be happy.

You can or can't say there is lava etc?

I had to put 5 points in Faith because of the chime requirement. Don,'t tell me you can cast the heal without it....

Just curious, does anyone do what I usually have to do in souls games... I always summon every NPC I can but I always have to check to see if they are NPCs and not other players. I'm always finding a summon sign and then googling it to see if it is actually an NPC or not!
.is there a way to tell? I'd out take much notice of colours or anything.

Hi all, should I buy and play DS1 and 2 before this? I'm interested in playing but don't want to miss anything from earlier games. Would you recommend the earlier games anyway to someone who hasn't played and DS?
