Dark Souls gameplay discussion - spoilers ahoy!

what is the purpose of humanity? i keep all mine in my inventory and use at campfires to kindle to 10 flasks, cant see the point in having loads of it loaded on your char only gonna lose it all
 
Still loving this game. Last night was just at Mc Farmington Ranch in the forest levelling up. Got the Stone armour and wolf boy went down after a tough battle. Got a ring but not sure what it does... Abyss walking!?
 
Right i've done some exploring and is there anything I need to do before I ring the second bell, that I can't do after?

Looking at online guides they seem to give different order of locations and when to go. I've done the basin, garden, depths, asylum again (not the boss though), valley of drakes, new londo ruins (not the boss since you need a ring from Sif apparently) and just finished the Catacombs. Would now be a decent time to ring the bell do you reckon?
 
getting to the bonfire at the bottom of blighttown was so annoying the poison swamp and the mosquitos make you want to smash screen..

u realise nothing really happens when u ring the bell? firekeeper at shrine is killed bug snake bloke turns up and you can access sens fort. You got some messerd up OCD going on there

Can you blame me? :P Some NPC's change their dialogue if you answer no first time etc.

Killed Quelaag anyway, quite easy actually. Then went to the Hollow and got cursed half way down so had to make my way all the way up, through Blight Town back to the first bell to get a cure, that wasn't fun.
 
Good place to farm green and large titanite is the slugs in Blighttown swamp area (near the great hollow)

Got my lightning spear upgraded (bigger :) ) and went and cleared out new londo ruins. what a depressing place that is...but at least the FPS isnt too bad. But you get zero souls from the ghosts and the treasures arent that good...couldnt lower the lift for some reason bah!.

So where shall i go next?

a) Kill ceaseless? and explore down that way?
b) darkroot garden? Go for the big wolfy chap Sif? (though i have to kill these big cat creatures in the way
c) Catacombs and then tomb of giants? catacombs was quite easy (divine Iato)

d) go down great hollow to ash lake?

lvl 48 still using elite knight and the Divine Iato sword.
 
Killing ceasless is pretty easy if you use falling off glitch but the other monsters down there are a pain, about 7 capra demons and an army of what appear to be minotaurs which kill me v quick (level 61 knight), im in a similar spot to you i have decided to do anor londo, difficulty wise, so far its not too bad at all, got killed by the knight on the narrow ledge which was a bit sly, will take a bit of getting back to.
 
found a glitch that kinda gives you lots of the items that you trade with the crow. But it only works if you havent already traded that item with the crow because the crow only trades one time only for that item.

e.g. i used to get more twinkling titanite. i had 9 of blooming purple moss and the crow trade 2 twinkling for it. You have to put down the moss quit then reload. DONT pick up new item. Put down another blooming purple moss and only then pick up new item. Quite n reload and do the same again.

So for those who need twinkling titanite best bet is to get lots of blooming purple moss and trade with crow.

Trick didnt work with the other moss you can trade for 1 twinkling titanite because i had already traded earlier with the crow for them.

capra was a pig for me too m8, you'll be chuffed to bits when you beat him though, its possible that you arent levelled up enough yet he was one of the last bosses around that area that i tackled i had done the gargoyles and rung the bell, i used tactics similar to those IGN posted on you tube

You need to level up the correct weapon to +10 then go see the blacksmith in the prison in new London ruins and he ascends it all I know is quelaags soul plus 10+ curved sword = fury sword I got soul of iron golem now dunno what that does
 
Also noticed online its buggy with backstabbing. you can be miles away from them but they can backstab easily.


Ohh and using black separation crystal to banish doesnt work!! (just incase u r in a similar situation)
 
Smough and Ornstein is a hideously annoying boss fight.

I managed to kill Ornstein, but Smough killed me, on the next attempt I killed Smough, but Ornstein gains new abilities and again I died. I get so annoyed that I just run through the start to the boss battle now, I'd rather not waste my flasks on the sentinels beforehand.

I can punch out the damage easily, but when they are both on me I can't get away fast enough. I have been trying to split them up but they refuse to do so.
