Dark Souls gameplay discussion - spoilers ahoy!

I'm still stuck on them :(

I tried it various different ways and in the end I killed Ornstein first using a 100% block shield and +3 Lightning winged spear, once he was dead I circle strafed Smough around a single pillar throwing fireballs after he attacked, once I ran out of those (as it's easy to miss due to the pillar) I used black fire bombs.

It seemed like quite a cheap tactic as none of his abilities can hit you however the room has so many pillars you may as well use them as an advantage.

I did a few attempts where I ran in and attempted to melee him but his electric charge / jump attack would always catch me eventually.

Beat Seth and Four Kings last night on the first go! I created Sifs sword but the damage seemed weak and to use it properly I would have to level up about 12 times! So stuck with my Great Lightning Sythe which is now doing over 500 damage. :)

Yeh, but still, bit of a downer if you spent money on it, I guess it's only a small percentage that is no longer relevant.

I bought the guide and although certain bits won't be relevant any more, it's a gorgeous guide and well worth having. I might just print out a list of the changes and keep them in the guide so I know what's different when I go back to the game in the future.

Yeah if you don't have the right stats it'll seem quite weak, and against some enemies it won't always do the most damage (depending on their strengths and weaknesses). I have the right stats for it, and even though my Lightning Iaito +5 seems to have better damage from the raw stats, the Greatsword of Artorias generally hits for more damage (though I generally prefer the speed of the Iaito). It'll be well worth trying again when you've levelled up enough to use it :)

Yeah it's in my inventory along with the gravelord sword to build up with resources I don't need on my primary. New Londo ruins in great to farm for Titanite Chunks by the way.

My shield seems to show fire damage but I'm not sure if this is an attack or just a higher resistance to incoming fire projectiles? Also lastly anyone know how to wear 3 rings? Is it just a special suit of armour!?

Demon Ruins and Tomb of Giants next anyways :).

I think it may be fire damage if you use LT/L2 to attack using the shield. The stats for resistance are kept seperate from that.

You can't wear 3 rings at once, only two unfortunately.

... And done!! Well I think it's been one of the best games in a while but what a pants ending. 70 hours and all we got was a 30 second cutsene that says next to nothing. I guess they didn't expect anyone to actually get that far lol.

I think it took me about 100 hours by the time I'd finished it, though I'm assuming it counts time spent sitting at bonfires, which I did quite a lot so I could make food/let the wife watch TV/etc. My real time was probably closer to 80 hours I reckon. I agree about the ending, it doesn't actually explain anything at all. They may as well just put a big message up saying "Well Done, You Rock!" as at least you'd feel better for seeing that.

Yeah, I was expecting a little epilogue or a few words that don't make much sense at the very least! Oh well New Game Plus seems easy, but going to give Skyrim a chance now. Dark Souls has been the most enjoyable game of the year for me anyways.

Started this up last night, first game I've played since completing Demon's Souls a few weeks back, and I am strangely disappointed. It doesn't feel like Demon's souls to me :(

Maybe it's the class, going from a pure mage, which is apparently pants in Dark Souls, to a Wanderer, but it really did nothing for me.

For me the best starting class was a Pyromancer, as it's a nice mix of melee and magic. Stick with it though, in the end I found it to be even better than Demon's Souls, and I thought that was epic.

Finished this this afternoon, what an awesome game loved all of it (well blight town isn't to be loved but I'm looking forward to it in NG+)

Tempted to trade this in towards skyrim but I know ill want to go back for more proven by the fact once I fi.ished it I had to go through NG+ till I got to the first blacksmith

Finally managed to beat Smough and Ornstein over the weekend and could finally progress. My god it was hard, took hours and probably more than a hundred deaths! :D

Once I'd learned their attacks and figured out which was best to kill first, I managed it. Killed Smough as he was charging up his lightning slam which killed me but still got his soul. Woohoo! Progressed on and managed Seath the Scaleless and Precilla on the first go.

I can't have many left to do now but can't decide where to go next. Any suggestions? I have visited briefly, but not explored, Valley of Drakes, New Londo Ruins and Demon Ruins.
