Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

I think I will just start a new game, then if I want to play it again after, I will have 2 to choose from. Another thing that puts me off, is that I will not be looking for any new gear really, as I already have great armour from the start.

What was your play style for the first playthrough? Heavy armour and blocking most attacks with a shield or doing your best to dodge everything?

If it's the former I recommend doing a playthrough with fast roll and trying to dodge most attacks and using a shield as little as possible.

A mix of the two. Dex and End as my main stats, fairly light with a mix of rolling and blocking....I always tried rolling where possible.

My stats ended up as:

Dex 40
End 39
Str 16
Vit 28
Int 20
Att 18
(others not changed)

I did not use magic or miracles at all...not even once!

Hiya, im playing as the pyro at the moment , so you think the knight might be the best bet, say a kind of tank character?
I do like characters that can go smashing in.

It might be worth a shot, trying something a little bit different until you find your groove.

I would say heavy armor can make things a little more forgiving until you get more used to the game, being able to take a few hits is fairly useful. :)

Worth noting that the Pyro has some great starting stats, being SL1 also allows for flexible development.

I wouldn't necessarily start as the Knight (unless you are dead set on having the armor straight off).

Any character template can be moulded however you please.

Keep getting invaded by the same **** that keeps dancing around everywhere... There are some very sad people around.

Looks like I will have to unplug my router:rolleyes:

The reason I was asking about NG+ or not is because I would like to do a bit more pvp next time, and thought it might be easier to match with lower level players not on NG+?

A lot of PvP takes places around SL120 (that's the community accepted level cap), so you could always do NG+ until your character is that level, then you'll be set for some good PvP.

You could always try doing some of the challenge runs to make the game more interesting for you. I did a one shot boss challenge run recently, where the aim is to kill every boss and mini-boss in the game in one single attack. Killing the bosses earns you points that you spend to level up, so if you follow the rules, you'll never be truly overpowered as to finish the challenge you have to be very careful how you level up. It was a bit of a grind in places, getting the souls needed to level up certain gear, and getting the materials needed for weapon upgrades, so it's not for everyone, but I felt a real sense of accomplishment when I finished the challenge.

I'm not finding NG+ much easier at all tbh:p... Can still easily be killed by normal enemies if I don't pay attention, or misstime a roll.

I think I will play through the whole game clearing Artorius armour... It just looks so cool!

One thing-3 hours in and I am in Undead Parish.... It took me about 15 hours to her there on my first playthrough:p

Not decided on a weapon yet, but I want to be a little less reliant on the uchigatana. Might bump my strength and go for a great sword.

Aaargh! I just came so close to beating Ornstein and Smough on first attempt in NG+... Killed the big one, and got the little one down quite low, but I keep getting done by the AOE attacks from each boss... I hate them with a passion!

Been invaded 5 times in last jour... Won them all:D. The last guy got a riposte in on me, but left me plenty or time to heal:confused:

Edit- phew... Done it. Ornstein and Smough with Smough first on NG+ is the hardest fight yet!... I kept killing Smough without taking a single hit, then getting obliterated by Ornstein lightning attacks. In fact, I think his AOE lighting attack was the only thing that hit me!
Took me 4 attempts:p in my first run through it took me 2.

PS.anyine else find that Solaire jumps off of the platform instead of using the stairs and loses some helath:rolleyes:

Yes, he's a bit dim like that, but he's useful in that fight, if only to give you some time to heal during the first half of the fight. I find he doesn't usually last the whole fight (just like if you summon him against the Gaping Dragon, he dies pretty quickly there too).

Great fight on NG+, definitely a satisfying victory, especially doing it the hard way :)

4k may be your next challenging fight, although I did just kill them on my first ever attempt in NG+ yesterday by using a +15 demons great axe and mashing some buttons!

I am still finding NG+ quite challenging. Anor London wasn't a cakewalk by any means, though I found it much easier than last time, as I was at least used to the moves. I found Anor Londo, with all the Knights and giants very difficult on my first run, as I just couldn't work out the Knights... Which usually led to me using a few(at least) estus flasks before getting to O+S.

Overall, I am really enjoyed ng NG+... Which is not something I normally do! I expected to find myself just going through the motions, but the game is really holding up very well to a 2nd playthrough. As I am so rubbish, I still find myself occasionally struggling against fairly low enemies tbh. Also, I have only beaten 4 bosses first time - asylum demon, quelag, Iron Golem and Gaping Dragon.... I found the titanate demons much harder tbh:p

Very pleased that I did not die at all in Sen's Fortress:p... Also forgot about the hat guy though.

The titanite demons are unforgiving at the best of times, I really hate fighting them, even more so on NG+. You're not alone in that, don't worry!

I normally don't play through games multiple times either but the multiple different ways you can play and the various different covenants you can join/discover make it interesting.
