Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

The Steamworks patch also breaks ultra widescreen 21:9 mod support :(

Back to GFWL version for me for now at least that works & supports 21:9.

Durante has just said that Nwks is needed to code the fps fix , and its up in the air weather hes around and if its worthwhile since its a crap ton of work.
so theres a possibility it may never be fixed.

This is still logging me in to GFWL even though I've done the stuff it said to do, also, I'm sure I had a 'fix' before that worked with DSFix that made the game UI adjustable/smaller when playing at higher resolutions, or am I going crazy?

Yeah, it's still there for me too. It adds unnecessary waiting time to get into game. I just hope it's only that and it's actually using Steam servers for online now.

The HUD options are still there in DSFix 2.3. Not sure if they work as I don't use them though.

I have been replaying this over the last few weeks in between other games. I thought it had been a reasonable amount of time since my first playthrough that everything would seem fresh again...Well, I have played it again, but not completed it more than once so there is a lot of the game I have only played through once!

I am playing a dex/int build using the Silver Knight Sword atm. Can't settle on an armour. The only brick walls I have hit have been Capra Demon(it is just poorly designed, but the we all know that!), and I really struggled in the Catacombs. Tonight though, I defeated Nito on my third attempt(forgot about those giant skeletons!), went straight to Sif and killed it first time(though I was initially gonna wait until after the dlc so I could get the cool cutscene!) then went through New Londo and did Four Kins first time...A boss that I seriously struggled on first time I played it!

Unfortunately though, I went through New Londo too quickly, and have no need to go back again. It is probably my favourite area of all time in games, but I did FK first time, so rushed through it! I wish I could go back and do the dlc first tbh.

I then decided I would explore Blighttown and the swamp, as I used the shortcut earlier and there is a fair amount if cool gear there. Then I went down to Ash Lake...Gets me every time. Such an epic area!

Think I will do the dlc next. Of the main game I have Duke's Archive, Lost Izaleth, Gwyn left to do.

BTW, if anyone is still wondering about the Steam update, you have to opt in to the beta version by right-clicking on the game in your library.

PS. Left my summons sign out quite a bit and was summoned a lot.

Unfortunately when this moved from GFWL i lost all my save games so will have to start fresh (not ng+s) if i ever play it again.

But after reading your post i think i may soon.

Have they allowed the dsfox etc to work again now? Think i heard they blocked it in the steam version for some reason?

Everytime i hear about souls i want to replay it but i dread going through the lava area! Its just such a weak area compared to the rest, looks awful too! But all the other areas are amazing so i could live with it :D

So much better than ds2 too, in terms of world and lore

Works fine now. Be sure to activate the steam version by right clicking and going to the beta tab and selecting the new version. I just wish they transfered people over automatically a lot quicker. Its hard to find people with the community segregated.

I don't know if it was luck or not. But mine were not working. Then all of a sudden they did. Give them another shot.

Next on the agenda for me is to save Solaire. Something I didn't do the first time!

I'm in the dlc area atm. Just killed the Guardian.

Also, I've been looking through some of the cut content. The game would be much better with most of it in tbh. Especially having Oscar around the game. His storyline is quite good... And the Artorias dialogue too.
