Started playing this tonight for the first time properly albeit on the Xbox 360.

Wow this game is tough, which seemed pretty obvious from the get go. I've reached Lordran after a few deaths at the first boss, and the multiple skeletons are just beating me!

Going to have to have lots of patience to learn when the block and attach properly...

Just watching a program on Nat Geo about a Crystal Cave in Mexico. I'm pretty sure we now know where they got their inspiration for their Crystal Cave from .

Finally got around to starting this over the bank holiday. Currently making my way through Blightown.

It certainly is... unforgiving! That Capra Demon fight!!

Enjoying the game immensely and it’s giving me a feeling of dread and panic like no other I can remember. I’m currently carrying 30,000 souls and surrounded by ogres and pink lizardy things and nearly out of estus… gulp.

One thing, though: I bought a controller especially for this game after hearing how much better this was than mouse and keyboard, but I hated it. Controlling the camera with one stick I guess I could eventually get used to, but pressing that same stick to reset the camera or lock on? Holding the left button to keep up a shield whilst still using the left stick to move? I couldn’t even get past the Taurus Demon! Switched to m&kb with dsmfix and ahhh… so much easier. A game which relies so much on precise movement feels to me so much better suited to mouse and keyboard. I have still died many times since, of course, but I can safely say now that this is due to my own errors in reading enemy patterns and attacks or just getting panicked and fumbling my moves. No longer am I rolling into enemies legs haplessly or losing sight of them with the camera.

Game looks good to with HD texture packs and mods. 30fps is horrible though, glad I could finally get 60 working.

Both looking forward to and dreading returning to my poor pyro in Blightown this evening…

Now I remember why I stopped playing this last time... ****ing Smough and Ornstein.
Try summoning help in the hallway before the fight. If you kill the archer/knight on the staircase there is a summon sign nearby. Must be in human form to see it though. Also, kill skinny first for an easier second half of the fight. ;)

strumpusplunket, try using a homeward bone. :)

Lol! Doh, I completely forgot they even existed. Think I only used one right bear the start. Think I have five or six of them...

Thanks for the reminder!

I hate that place, I skipped most of the Depths and Blighttown on this run through, and will so from now on!

Solaire is pretty useless, he dies pretty quickly then it's back to a 2v1 rape session :p

I can't summon online players because of my dreadful internet either :(

No worries :) easily done!

:)

I really make such noobish mistakes at times.

Now when I get back to it... do I push on through Blightown a little more? Or bone out of there and spend my souls...

I feel I'm only one mistake away from losing 30,000 souls, but then again it will be pretty annoying to have kill the ogres, ghouls and blowdart dudes again to get back to where I am.

My attacks are still too weak and I'm behind the weapon upgrade curve I think. I was gong pyro, but I dislike the limited range and long cast time, so went melee briefly before deciding to take up sorcery. Took me forever to poke the Gaping Dragon to death in his scaly butt with my Winger Spear (now, that must be the most innuendo-laden gaming sentence I have ever typed).
