Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Arg had like 10000 souls saved up after I killed that boss by jumping on his head then just kept continuing and got poisoned by rats and had no potions. Hope I can get my souls back. I was able to nab that sword and shield off that sleeping dragon at the start and also the crimson robes stuff and all my attacks are pretty powerful now, 1 shotting trash.

Also when I die now I only get 5 swings of the potion, how can I get it back to 10? Loving this game.

How does this game differ from rpg's like elder scrolls, dragon age and kingdoms of amalur?

I don't know anything about this game, what makes it special?

Thanks.

It's remotely challenging. Something pretty much every game isn't these days. Fantastic gameplay too, think Zelda for adults.

Nothing like those 3 above. It's very Japanese and the story in game trickles out in npc murmurs so you're just left with the core gameplay, which is very rewarding once you get to grips with it. Hours of frustration await with moments of pure joy after you conquer a zone/boss.

As said above.

It's just ****ing awesome! Every battle with an enemy needs care and attention. Boss fights are the best i've ever played. (Not including Demon's Souls)

So is it basically retracing your steps numerous times trying to defeat the same boss over and over?

Sounds infuriating! But could also be immensely rewarding.

Needs a bit of skill then does it.

I'd say paying attention much more than 'skill' is what the game demands of you.

You WILL die, and it's learning from your previous deaths that make you succeed, rather than just trying to outskill the enemies.

Not at all, for some people it's a case of grinding but not for everyone. It involves more skill than the majority of games out there.

I call that paying attention. You can be super skilled at demon's souls and this game, then when the DLC and new zones come out with new mobs your skill doesn't count for much, you still need to learn new mobs/bosses attacks, usually from dying from unforeseeable surprise attack... for the majority of players anyway, barring a few freakishly good youtube videos that complete the game in 1 go without ever dying.

Ah and I just noticed the minimum specs are a 4870! Coupled with the ATI performance not being too good I think that's your problem :(

Still the res fix is supposed to improve performance altogether so still give it a try

Ah is that so? I never realised. I suppose this ol' card has done me well for the mean time.

It is extremely infuriating. In fact I just ragequit about a minute ago :p

Not that my opinion is worth much, but I played this on the PS3 and couldn't stand it. It was just an immensely cruel game that needed a frankly insane amount of time put in to get anywhere. Unless you are really hardcore I'd give it a miss, I couldn't sell it fast enough.
