Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

You can't count a community made mod as the vanilla game. As you know the game looks dreadful without it, and the controls are probably the worst i've ever seen. It is also not optimised for PC at all, 30fps cap and all.

Dark Souls was built around being played with a pad and with a pad it's plays just fine. The 30 fps cap hasn't dented my enjoyment of the game at all and the elements that made Dark Souls a great game are all present in PC version. Of course the port could have been better, but in it's current state with Durante's fix, Dark Souls on the PC is the best looking version of one of the few great games released this gen (and it can be had for £15!)

It's a good game just not GOTY

It's all subjective. The console version was up there with the very best on the PC for me, so yeah, this is goty material.

Makes me wonder how many of the naysayers before actually changed their minds about this PC version now.

As above, yeah this port could have been done better, but as long as you have a decent computer, it still runs better than the console versions any day. And the fact that we have content that they won't get until this winter, it's a big bonus.

Yes, with the fixes and a controller as we play it, it is fine. 30fps doesn't bother me either.

Anyone know anyone to get Summoning to work? I'm enjoying the game but mainly got it so i can play with my mate, can sometimes see other users summon's but never my friends and vice versa, GFWL report open NAT and uPnP working as should, i did see his once or twice but then it disappeared and said summoning failed when i tried one of the times it didnt disappear.

The same is happening for messages never see any user messages?

Anyone having issues with this?

If it's anything like the first few weeks of the PS3 release, expect to see "Summoning Failed" until it's burned into your retinas.

Unfortunately Dark Souls (and Demon's) was never built as a multiplayer game as such. This is why the selection of summon signs you see is nearly always completely random and console voice chat was disabled during play, it's all about the atmosphere of being alone and disconnected from any safety net.

Don't get me wrong this is something that even I hate, however iirc the PC version was supposed to include match making of some description but who knows where that ended up.

Will just need to keep trying when me and my mate are on then, bit annoyed with it but im enjoying the game so far so ill just roll with it and hopefully one time it works.

Suggestion, try and both join the Way of the White covenant.

Basically talk to the fat warrior monk in Firelink and join his covenant, it is one of the three which make it easier to play with other people in the same covenant(s).

WotW is the easiest of the three to join as you can do it from the very start of the game and there are no stat requirements, also if either of you started as a Knight or Cleric you are automatically part of that covenant.

I mean in terms of media coverage of course. Guild Wars 2 is going to be the only thing you'll be hearing about for the next month.

Yes but most people will be ignoring it who don't care, and be looking for other news I guess.

**** I killed him :p

I like this game, but Im afraid I do not have a spare 7 months to play it to completion. This is a game for single guys, or guys who will end up single.
