Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Havent played the game on Pc but to kill him its getting to know his move set and get the timing of his hits down to a tee then you can get the odd hit in. iirc one hit and youll be dead so just play it patient get him onto on of the other floors and circle him.

Havel is very slow. The best way to fight him is to make sure you aren't slowed by heavy armour and avoid his attacks and backstab him after he swings, it takes him a few seconds to pick his mace up again.

Oh by the way, Fire Keepers Souls are used to upgrade your Estus Flask, take them to a firekeeper and they'll upgrade it.

HOWEVER, spoilers ahoy, there is an occasion where you shouldn't do this, it involves Lautrec and the Firelink Firekeeper.

After you rescue Lautrec from Undead Parish, a little later on (after ringing both bells) he will disappear having murdered the Firelink Firekeeper. Looting her corpse will give you a Black Eye Orb, this is used later on in Anor Londo where you can invade Lautrec in a pseudo pvp manner and kill him to get back the Firekeepers Soul. You will know when you can use the Eye Orb because you will get a message on screen. The soul you receive will look like a normal Firekeepers souls to upgrade your flask, however if you ever want to use the Firelink Fire again, don't use it, take it to her corpse and revive her.

This is also the only way to receive Lautrecs armor.

You can technically avoid all this by just killing Lautrec whilst h'es in Firelink or in his cell, you will get his ring/humanity but will never get his armor in that playthrough. His armor is actually rather useful due to massive curse resistance.

To those using it, don't rely on Havels ring unless you are going for a heavy armor/weapon build specifically, there are far better rings available and you will want to be raising Endurance to ~40 anyway to max your Stamina which will give you plenty of equip load for most builds.

How do you summon others to help you? I've never tried this.

Ah that Havel guy is an absolute *****. gonna try that moving around to backstab next time we meet though.

Think I've made the mistake of going down the catacombs after only rining 1 bell. Lost about 30k souls from skeleton deaths, they're so tricky, espcially now I've just reached the bottom and there's loads of cartwheeling and a big knight guy tearing me apart.

The reward for taking down the boss in that area is well worth it though :)

to summon other players your looking for yellowish signs on the floor in the area your in.If you see red writing don't bother that means you will get someone invading your world ;)
you have to be in human form and you can only summon in that area if you have not beat the boss yet.

Having difficulty with the dragon in the depths atm. Only tried once but I can see it will take some time :(

you can summon solaire if your human you should see plenty of human signs as well just before you go down the stairs to the fog.
I was level 25 when i done that boss last night and there was plenty of signs scattered about.

I summoned Solaire but he was just about insta-killed like an idiot :p

Just take it slow, he's pretty slow and has a limited number of very predictable attacks.

My advice, stay away from him till he the attack which sticks him to the floor then go in and whack the little......uh...head? The part furthest from his tail, I'm not entirely sure what it is. If you keep your distance you will avoid all his attacks.

Also as with any boss with an obvious tail, cut it off for a prize.

Yeah I was trying to stay back until he charged, then move and go hit his tail until he is un-stunned. Did that a good 4 times just his tail didn't fall off and he killed me :( :p

I'll try take more care next time :D

I admire how some of you get so far in so little time.
I like the game theres something about its measured pacing that i like.
But i guess i just suck a large one at playing it:/

Tbh if you stick with it after you've gone through some areas a few times you can just fly through them (like i'm now doing with my new character)

However i'm nowhere near as good as anyone here I should think, I still suck :p

Just killed that pinwheel guy. too easy. What's the deal with getting into human form, do you just use a humanity? I've got 10 of them and 1 twin humanities. can you only summon help from other players during boss battles?
