Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

It can be a huge PITA to get even for people that have done it numerous times.

Eh? I know New Londo isn't the most forgiving of places but the ember itself is only a PITA if you keep falling off the damn walkway.

I mean once you realise the Darkwraiths are the easiest enemy to backstab in history the only hard thing about New Londo is risk of falling into oblivion.

Just some some images of the Edge article. What the hell is with the Necromorph rip-off?!

I agree it looks quite a lot like a Necromorph however if you look closely it actualyl appears to have a whole spider attached to it's back, look at page above the last for a better example.

Dark Souls needs more spiders.

Getting the key to the seal and unlocking it is the PITA part, not running past the Darkwraiths.

I assume you're referring to the section between the start, Ingward and the seal?

In which case yeah I suppose it's annoying but it's not that bad. Saying that I've probably one the place a dozen times now and know where every banshee is by heart so my opinion of the place is probably a bit invalid at this stage.

For me if you want PITA then the Great Hollow/Ash Lake is far more aggravating, especially if you're a completionist who MUST NEVER MISS AN ITEM.

I finally got around to fighting Sif last night, after playing through the DLC first, and I didn't want to kill him :( I felt so bad :(

Didn't stop me beating him inside 30 seconds though, as I was a bit OP by the time I fought him. Buffed with Power Within, it only took 3 hits from Pursuers and he went down. Thankfully no limping, I don't think I could've taken that!

I still lose sleep over it. :(

The fact he's trying to stop you going to the Abyss so you don't become tainted and corrupt like Artorias, and then you kill him, and the fact hes sooo cute... Just no. :(

Bitches please! You come at me with a sword three times the size of me and I won't hesitate for a second to mow you down :p.
He has a lovely story, and he's cute! Leave me alone :p

Power Within is definitely a bit OP if used right. I took out the Four Kings last night, 2 shotting each of them (one hit of Pursuers, one hit of Dark Bead), and I had to sit there waiting between each boss. I also used it to buff myself before taking on Seath, and I had him dead without so much as a scratch using Great Lightning Spear, before he'd even closed the gap from one side of the room to the other.

It's great fun to use though! I think I'll get more serious use out of it in NG+.

To be fair magic as a whole is OP even without PW. I went through Gwyn's fog on NG++, set up my pursuers and switched to my Moonlight Greatsword. Parried his first jumping attack (In which the pursuers hit him although not sure if all of them hit) and reposted taking him down to about 2/3 of his HP. Dark beaded him as he got up which took off about 3950 HP and staggered him and a second Dark Bead finished him off. This was after finishing almost three playthroughs in less than 20 hours due to how powerful magic is.

Just don't swing your weapon near them. I've played through the game twice and not accidentily hit any merchant yet (though I killed the Undead Merchant on purpose).

Yeah was using the mouse and misclicked the ok button, was the first i realised it was even possible to swing a sword mid-dialog

Anyway re-rolled a battle mage type character and got my joypad working properly, that makes the world of difference.

About 30hrs in now and to be honest this is shaping up to be one of the best games i've ever played. The difficulty & depth of it, the total lack of handholding. The different areas are brilliantly linked together and without a single loading screen - it's so immersive:)

You must have a pretty decent INT stat to get damage like that though. 50+? I'm still down at 32 INT as my character has been a bit of a mish mash this playthrough. I'm SL100 yet I don't feel OP in any area as everything is pretty spread out. Decent faith (30), decent INT (32), strength at 24, dex at 20, end at 24, vit at 20. You can tell I didn't have a proper build in mind for this playthrough! :D

Yup, a Power Within build is definitely a bit OP! Finished the game tonight and went straight into NG+. One shotted the Asylum Demon before he'd even hit the floor, blew through the Taurus Demon, then both Gargoyles. Rang the bell, went back to Firelink, used the New Londo shortcut to get to Blighttown, went straight down to Queelag, and took her down in 4 shots. Makes me feel like a walking badass! :D

This is 33% off in the steam sale, kinda hoping it will get into a daily deal though.
Is it worth getting even if you have the PS3 version?

I was hoping it would come down even more than that.

From what I hear, it's worth buying the pc version because of the graphical improvements and extra content.
