Hmm, the thing is, for some reason its all very quiet they haven't done a big launch and their site is pretty terrible, not least because it doesn't seem to size to my window and looks designed fora 640x480 resolution or something stupid.
I kind of assume there would be a decent story/quests going on because they mention quests, but apparently theres some quest chains for a bit of money but theres no story, its just the standard get 10 teeth from beastie type X.
So essentially it sounds like its going to be, grind out levels on mob's, everyone is lvl 100 on everything, then its all fighting each other, people hoping that enough groups join up with enough other groups to fight opposing massive groups in wars basically. But it could also just end up being almost every man for himself and nothing to really do.
I don't know, a little story and some actual opposing sides seem like a pretty key thing to leave out. AFAIK any race can be in a clan with any group, rather than cutting a line in the middle of them and making half the races able to join together if they want, but always a proper enemy.
I dunno, it might be fun, it might not but it sounds like all grind, with no story, just to fight people to get their kit, just to be killed and have your stuff taken. I'm not really seeing the "point".
I dunno, I've always liked Lotro for its really good story and some great quests/instances they take you into, but its so ridiculously easy I'm bored to tears with it. I want a harder game but I'm not sure I'll find any depth or longevity in a game that after you've leveled up all your skills and done anything, is just a free for all slugfest with supposedly not fantastic combat, no story, no reason for anything except people who enjoy ganking others.
Player driven story sounds great in theory, if you could somehow exlude all 12 year olds and old bellends from the game. leaving it completely down to the players, when you can't exclude the morons is risky as hell.#
hmm, that "HD" video does look pretty awful tbh, aswell as I'm rather expecting thats what 99% of the combat you'll be involved in will turn into, gankfest with one guy running off straffing all the way hoping to get away, it doesn't seem like its going to be particularly, fun, innovative, have anything to actually do once you've run around once and seen everything.
Yes, the ideal situation is half the server is in clans allied with enough other clans, you want to attack the othersides main city and thousands of people join up for a battle royal and stand and fight in glory and major coolness. But in reality even if that happened, you'd just get a screen full of people straffing in circles randomly killing people they weren't shooting at.
Real aiming shooting sounds great, but in reality it doesn't become skill, it becomes, 5 people chasing one and 1 in every 10 arrows will hit, not skill, just quantity, it just doesn't sound fun. Even more so with arrows needing to be bought/found and most magic stuff needing reagents too. It sounds like a grind with no content to me the more I read. But its also difficult as people say lots of bits didn't make it into the beta, theres things people haven't seen and people seem to have all played different stages of the beta with lots of different features in each so almost impossible to know what state its in.

has a weird rotating skill tumbler thing that looks clever at first glance but is really just an annoying way of restricting which skills you can use. Stuck with it for about 6 or 7 hours play in the hope that it would get better, but nope
