Dashcams!

That's about the oddest thing I've seen. I have to admit I've been guilty of blocking the occasional person who thinks they're more important than other drivers and tries to force their way in on carriageways that merge into one lane, but they're the same one you always notice. You know they're in the right hand land just so they can overtake all the 'normal' people (that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it).

To see the two drivers in that video completely blocking two lanes of a motorway though is just making me scratch my head. I presume the two left lanes go somewhere else? Either way, the road ahead was empty so there was no reason for them to block the road. I'd have reported them to the police. You can be fined for intentionally holding up traffic.

The 2 cars which blocked the road didn't see the signs change (or new signs) that opened the previously closed lane. They probably passed under the 'lane closed' warning sign but it then changed to '40' for the traffic following. But they're still idiots for not realising that things change, even when multiple drivers tell them. When they finally see the 40 signs they pull over.

Belligerent arses.

The normal and correct thing to do is not be an idiot. The merge point is there for a reason, it's where you merge, if you decide to merge early / stay in left lane for ages with the right lane being empty and someone else uses that then they are actually using the road properly and you aren't. Learn how to use the road before you block people and complain about others actually using it correctly.

The lanes queuing were for a junction and the two sad old men holding up the live lanes of traffic had no reason to do so. As for deliberately blocking people because you think they are jumping in, hand in your licence.

There's a difference between people rushing in and cutting over at the last minute who are knobs and blocking people who are just using all of the road available and slotting in behind another car when it's time to merge.

If you lived where I do and saw the exact type of person Janesy B mentioned, that's what I have to put up with on a daily basis. I seem them coming every time, and sorry, but I'm not letting them in because they are 'knobs' as he put it. They specifically get in the right lane so they can queue jump because they're self-important ******, then barge their way into the left hand lane that goes in a different direction. Anyway, this discussion has happened on here before, and I'm not going to defend myself, and I'm not going to change the way I drive. I am, for the most part, a sensible gracious driver, but I won't tolerate these idiots who make my commute longer because they think they're better than everyone else.

IT. IS. NOT. JUMPING. A. QUEUE.

and if people just used all of the road and both lanes, and just took turns in letting people merge traffic wouldn't back up further and clog up roundabouts and junctions.

It's this stupid British thing where people actively go out of their way to make other motorists' lives difficult because of their stupid misconceptions about how a road should be used. This goes for people who poodle around on NSL roads and then suddenly speed up and start flashing their lights when someone had the audacity overtake them perfectly safely.

If there's two lines open at a shop and you're in the longest line, do you actively stand in the way of people trying to use the shorter line because you think they are pushing in?

You're just making your own commute longer.

I'm glad you brought this up.

Imagine you're doing your weekly supermarket shop. There are two queues. You've just placed your food on the conveyor and are waiting for the person in front of you to pay and move. A person at the back of the queue next to yours decides they can't be bothered to wait, in that queue because the queue you're in is smaller. They then move over to your queue. That's fine. However, instead of waiting at the back of the queue they've just joined, they move straight past everyone else and dump their shopping on the conveyor in front of you. You'd be OK with that would you?

I'm not talking about two lanes that merge into one. I'm talking about a dual carriageway, the outside lane of which goes over a bridge onto a completely separate road, and THEY.ARE.QUEUE.JUMPING. Get it!?

Yes you are:

I was initially, but if you actually bothered to learn to read you'll see I moved on from there to dual carriageways that split into separate roads.

He's got you there. Stop blocking people.

Nope. I will continually block morons who are too ignorant to wait their turn. If that happens to be you, tough luck matey.

They're not. And who cares? You're not the police, either get out of the way or use the road that's available. It's not an honour system, and you're not some moral arbiter of who is allowed to do what.

And neither are you, so if you don't like it, also tough luck. If you don't want people to block you, have some common courtesy and wait your turn. Simple as that.

And one day someone will drag you out of your car and punch you in the face. Let it be someone else. Just because you failed the police entrance exam doesn't give you the right to block people from merging properly.

I'll say it once again for the slow-witted, I am NOT talking about merging from a two lane into one, I am talking about a DUAL CARRIAGEWAY that splits into two roads. My original comment was noted in past tense and you'll also note it says 'occasional', not something I go out of my way to do.

The 'zipper' lane merging is not something I blame drivers for even if I do think they're taking the **** a bit. I blame Councils for their **** poor road management.

Anyway, as you clearly all think I'm a poor driver, I'll leave you to it. I will continue to drive in a way that I feel is most appropriate. If that means I block you from queue jumping ... when you are actually queue jumping .... then so be it.
