Dashcams!

Any mini0806 owners experience their dashcam started turning off without reason?

I notice mine started turning off automatically even though its plugged in. Plus when the I turn it back on the the sound is distorted for some reason.
The screen also lights up sporadically. I the G sensor turned off so it cant be the auto save feature.

Hope its just a wiring becoming loose but thought Id ask first before I start disconnecting stuff.

Did you do the capacitor mod or just running it standard on the usb plug all the time?

Early models had a problem where there were not designed to be constantly plugged in and would kill the battery and start to behave oddly...

Don't know if later models were the same?

Nope, no mods. Been running on USB plug whenever the car is running. If its the battery hopefully its replaceable. Thanks for the info

I mentioned a while back my Mini0806 was getting audio interference. Finally got round to troubleshooting it. I plugged a USB powerbank into the GPS mount socket to rule out 12v power interference in my car, got the same interference. Wiggling the 0806 in the mount resulted in fixing it, but it came back when I opened and closed the door.

So clearly the mount's contacts don't have a long shelf life. I have taken the camera off the mount many times since getting it.

I'll order another mount with GPS to replace it with and simply not remove the camera any more. £19...

Edit*
Here's a sample of the interference, and also a lol moment from today :p

Had this with a mini 0805 camera, reformatting the memory card sorted it out, have you tried that?

** Epic stop video **

There was a form on DVLA website not long ago where you could report 'unfit' drivers and upload supporting evidence if any & is anonymous.

Myself and my family were forced to use it a while back as my 92 yr old grandad refused to hand in his keys despite near-misses at every junction/red-light. He always said it was everyone else's fault.

3 weeks after the form was submitted he had his licence revoked. DVLA asked him to submit to an assessment and he failed before even getting out of the car park.

It may seem cowardly and harsh that we went this route but for his and everyone else's safety it was the only way.

Perhaps my family should do the same as this sounds just like my grandad. Within months of buying his new car he had already put dents and scratches down the sides of both doors and continually cuts in front of cars at junctions without indicating, all while insisting he is a safe driver. He also has a tendency to rest his left foot on the pedal so everyone nearby is treated to the wonderful smell of burning clutch...

@Freefaller Great brakes, also refreshing to see a close call dash moment where someone actually brakes rather than just sound horn and swerve, well done!

Also, just started using a gopro knock off action camera as a dash cam which has much better image quality then my previous Chinese special but notice it struggles with transitioning from bright skies where the whole image gets overely white -is this an ISO or white balance setting I need to change? I also have things like HDR and exposure controls.

Anyone tried the Mini 0903 yet? It seems a little smaller/neater still and has some sort of parking mode which is as important for what I've been looking for as normal recording. Just trying to find a bit more about it.

"Mini 0903 NanoQ Dashcam from the creators of Mini 0806 +CPL + Parking guard Kit" on ebay for £100.
