Dashcams!

I have the K1S and I chose it because of the rear camera.

What I really want is a K1S which records to two SD cards at once, so I have one for myself and one to give to the police officer at the scene.

I do like my xiaomi yi dashcam.. it's not as good quality wise as 0806(imo) and it's not as small(think go pro) but it does the job and seems to be reliable enough(aka have had no issues with it at all) it is all in chinese(menus) but phone app is english and it can be controlled over that.

here's a sample video(no original audio due to copyright :o)

With the central DVR , did you tuck it away or does it get hot?

Anyone with a bit of Experience able to advise what's best

I'm torn between the Thinkware F750 , But don't really need Lane Departure Warnings, and Already have Camera Alerts through the satnav. And the KoonLung K1S With front/rear.

AFAIK , both are GPS and have front and Rear... But there is a £100 difference between them.

Do i really need a rear camera? It can't hurt i imagine. Does either have a better sensor? Hard to tell from what i'm reading.

Thanks

Often 2 separate cameras will give better quality video and be cheaper than a dual camera system. I have used 2 Mobius in the past to great effect.

I mentioned a while back my Mini0806 was getting audio interference. Finally got round to troubleshooting it. I plugged a USB powerbank into the GPS mount socket to rule out 12v power interference in my car, got the same interference. Wiggling the 0806 in the mount resulted in fixing it, but it came back when I opened and closed the door.

So clearly the mount's contacts don't have a long shelf life. I have taken the camera off the mount many times since getting it.

I'll order another mount with GPS to replace it with and simply not remove the camera any more. £19...

Edit*
Here's a sample of the interference, and also a lol moment from today :p

The Mini080x range of camera's are probably the most copied model of all dashcams and the quality ranges from good to appalling. Having said that the 080x cameras do have a reputation generally for poor power leads.

I don't have any experience withg the K1S but loads with the Thinkware F750. Loved it's WIFI feature so could connect my phone to it and change any settings / download vids / format sd card etc with super ease.

The K1S is reviewed here: https://dashcamtalk.com/koonlung-k1s/ - I think it's a different kettle of fish to the Thinkware cams

REALLY miss the Speed Camera alerts from the F750 - just waiting on the F770 (and I'd advise you do too bud) as it has better night vision than the F750.

The parking surveillance mode is pretty much un-matched once hard wired - when I had the F750 (64gb dual cam version) I never not once worried about my car and it being scratched or damaged etc.

i had a K1S, the front camera broke at the first sign of frost

if i bothered to get a replacement i would not put it on the window again, maybe set it back some way or mount onto the rear view mirror, apart from that it was a good clear set of cameras and you get to watch the driver behind picking their nose

Anyone using the Rexing V1? Seems to have decent reviews for £40 and has a discreet design for leaving in the car permanently.

I've been look at this today, as you say it seems to have some really good reviews and I've seen a review on YouTube showing it in use it many different conditions and it seems good for the money.

Very tempted at £40.

EDIT: Sod it, just bought one. I like how discreet it looks and the fact it has so many good reviews.

Indeed. One of the reasons that I chose the K1S is that my Yeti leaves the 12V sockets on when the engine is off and the K1S works off a single power socket so there's only one to pull out when I stop the car.

I'm still tempted by 0806 but due to bugs I think 0805 is a better buy!

sadly my dash super reflective and I need to get a good cpl filter but 805 doesn't support it officially, aka it does not have the magnetic ring around the lens, has anyone found a way to attach one? guess some glue/sticky pads would do??

Let us know how you get on with it :)

Has anyone used those rear view mirrors with built in dash cams like this one?

They do yes. They provide the SD Card. So if you choose the 64gb + 32gb you'll get a 64gb and 32gb microSD.

They're probably one of the best cameras available from what I've seen, of course they have the slight premium but for no fuss and the additional features I'd say they're worth it. :D

Thanks! :)

I think i may have sorted my mini0806 issue. Stripped the DIY hardwire kit and found a loose connection in the live wire. Tidied the cable and reflash the latest firmwire and all seems to work now. Really need to buy a cheap soldering gun.

Any mini0806 owners experience their dashcam started turning off without reason?

I notice mine started turning off automatically even though its plugged in. Plus when the I turn it back on the the sound is distorted for some reason.
The screen also lights up sporadically. I the G sensor turned off so it cant be the auto save feature.

Hope its just a wiring becoming loose but thought Id ask first before I start disconnecting stuff.
