Dashcams!

HDR I found pointless on the 0806, doesn't really do much other than wash things out! The sensor metering (I set it to centre weighted and made sure the centre is aimed at the road mostly, not the sky).is good enough to not need it anyway IMO.

Will have another fumble with the settings and follow suit. :)

Shame it was rubbish and Vantrue are pestering me on Amazon about the two star review I left!

The built in USB port wouldn't hold a cable and their response was 'About the mini USB Port , the N1 Dashboard have two port , you can try the another port if possible.'.

Vantrue looks a bit junk. Seems to be back focused and vibrates a lot in that mount!

But saying that, compared to straight out of the cam on mine they look very flat which is a bit nicer. The mini seems very contrasty in comparison.

EDIT - Adjusted the CPL and turned off HDR. Only adjusted off the inbuilt screen so was hard to see reflections. The video is still very contrasty. And once again, no GPS lock...

They were supposed to be due in the country bty today but i havnt heard anything from my supplier.

Hopefully next week, shudnt be long to go and defo worrh the wait if its better than the F750!

Cool! Is the F750 not that good then??

Out of interest, who is your supplier? Looking for a good price on one if it will be worth the upgrade from a mini 0803 I have now

Check a couple of pages back bud - I posted a link to the website I pre-ordered it from. They had the 32Ghb 2Ch hardwired version on offer saving about £30-£50.

Don't get me wrong the F750 was great - only area it was lacking in I feel was night time footage wasn't that great and thats the main difference between the F750 and the F770 - The F770 has a better 'super night vision' lens so its just perfecting it further.

I would have kept the F750 if it wasn't for the fact it was hard wired in and I was seriously ill when I sold my last car (otherwise woulda ripped it out lol!). Thankfully I didn't lose out loads and as the buyer was giving me the full asking price for my car I let it go for £100 extra.

I just praying thinkware don't delay them anymore than they already have - they announced the F770 back in March and still havn't brought it to the UK yet! I'll give them one more week.

link above bud where I got it from - they still have the pre-order on for hardwired 2ch 32gb version for lower than anywhere else here in the UK. I'm gunna email em now asking for an update on my order.

What really sets the F750/F770 apart from all other dash cams is the parking surveillance mode -used to love this! - Any motion around the car whilst its parked up is recorded (10 secs before and 10 secs after). It's got built-in Battery monitor which is configurable through your smartphones app, so for example when my battery dropped to 13v (or somat) the camera shut off itself ensuring I never had a dead battery - left my previous car for 2 complete days un-used and it was still good to go!

What about 2 weeks? (Like at the airport)

I often don't drive for like 5 days anyway.

Glad you asked that as thats the other feature which is different from the F750. The F750 just used to record a full 10sec before and after motion around the vehicle. The F770 has a new 'time lapse' mode which is supposed to be even more efficient with battery useage AND memory card useage.

So two differences between the F750 and F770 - The F770 has a better night time lens and also has time lapse mode.

It's got all the 'gimmicks' same as the F750 - I didn't use any of them as my Volvo had all that crud built-in (lane departure, oncoming vehicle alert etc) - but tell you what I REALLY miss the speed camera alerts it gave! - They come in really handy with my driving style lol ;)

review here: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/thinkware-f770-review

Oh and its slightly lower profile than the F750 so will be even more discreet - not that I had a problem with the size of the F750 - a welcome bonus.

In terms of video quality the F770 picks up where the F750 left off with considerably higher bitrate recording than most other 2-channel dashcams on the market. The new camera adds a Super Night Vision feature which significantly improves video clarity at night even in poorly lit areas. Another new feature is the time lapse function for parking mode which takes 1 frame per second video which uses significantly less storage space than traditional parking mode video. It also plays back 15x faster making it easier to scan through footage.

Well worth the premium over the cheaper models in my view - a delight to use especially for people (aka my missus!) who don't want to have to plug anything in or make adjustments - get in and drive - simple as.
