Dashcams!

Sounds amazing and well worth the money! :D

I think I'll wait for it

Built in battery monitor you say...? Makes some like a park magic pro (believe that's the name) irrelevant as the cam has it built in? If so... That is COOL! I assume it will work the same, and simply stop recording if the car battery is running low. Which answers the question someone asked about leaving it for 5 days, you still won't have any issue starting it... it just won't have recorded for the whole 5 days maybe?

And yeah, I'm also interested in the speed camera stuff, seems like a nice feature as car satnavs (integrated) don't often have that

Thanks for the advice!

The faster playback would be worth it, the slow download speeds are so frustrating on the F750.

Yeah that was the one issue I had with the app - it would timeout whilst downloading a video, if I didn't keep the phones screen alive and kill the connection.

I took this up with Thinkware UK support - The UK support team (which consisted of the same guy I spoke with everytime lol) leaves a bit to be desired - first he did the usual supplier thing and tried to blame my smartphone, then he claimed I was doing it wrong lol!!

The US Support team were much better and admitted it's actually configured that way to ensure security of the camera isn't compromised.

doesn't help when trying to download a long vid but I believe they've tried to address this in a newer firmware release.

I bought another 0806 Mini like an idiot, but I had it on continuous record for 24 hours and it worked fine, and the buttons work so I can actually get it fitted.

np - Just got an email from my supplier this morning saying there was a slight delay at customs but they are expecting the units tomorrow and delivery no later than Thursday :)

Bad news is that I might be changing jobs so might need to change cars - need to hang fire fitting this unit now, darn it!

Hopefully you get it soon

Do you happen to know the answer to my question about the power management? Does it have features already built into the camera to ensure it can run 24/7 whilst leaving enough power on the battery to start the car still? Not sure if I misunderstood your post

See here bud about power management: http://thinkwarenorthamerica.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/faqfriday-why-shouldnt-i-leave-my-dash.html

The thinkwares have three options - Volt-meter, Off-Timer and Off-Voltage which all ensure your car is still ready to go no matter how long the camera is on.

Love the Thinkware cameras but they couldnt hard wire it into my car so I can't have one. Got a transcend unit which is good quality but its a hassle having to set it up every journey.

Wierd that! - sure they knew what they were doing cus its just a straight forward live, negative and ignition wire! - same as all other car accessories.

Just got a message from DPD - My F770 is due tomorrow (yaaay!) - don't need to sell the car so its booked in for this saturday for install. Will try to take some pics before and after installation.

This looks like it could be a good camera, decent app and good parking features if you have a continuous power feed.

I have the DDPai Mini which isn't as good quality but uses the same app, and has the parking modes, but not the GPS.

My wife bought it for £60 including the hard wire kit, so I wasn't expecting the world, I don't use the car regularly and I have not used the car for a week and its been fine on Battery usage.

Overall I'm very impressed, and DDPai have been very good with support, as I asked them if they could add an option to change the 10 second clip, and they are looking into it, and they fixed a problem with the colours being overly saturated.

New to this Dashcam stuff. Tried reading a few reviews but there are just so many out there is confusing.

Transcend camere's are quite popular.

Are they a decent camera or are there better alternatives.

To clarify, front camera would be fine, it was the rear camera that was the problem, no where to route/mount it. Gutted so they took it back. Was an offer through the RAC.

I used to he well into my ICE stuff when i was younger so have plenty of experience routing cables through cars. Unfortunately i'm just too lazy/busy these days to bother doing it myself but its not that difficult reallt. Pull off some rubber sills on the side of the doors and simply wire through the roof.

I was looking ar RAC too, they just use a generic installation company thats nearby you to do.it. I wouldal have questioned his ability to do his job in this case though bud!! Rubbish that he didnt know how to wire something from the front of the car to the back, hardly rocket science.

Might have to try again then bud as I really want a thinkware camera.

The DDpai looks very very good, the app also looks fully featured and I really like the park guard feature, it just does everything by itself and sits there.

The video quality looks very sharp as well, it's only 10Mbits odd for the bitrate, but daytime footage looks every bit as sharp and clear as my 0806 at 24Mbits. The audio also sounds very good, perhaps not as good as the 0806, but certainly very good.

I want one.
