Dashcams!

Hate coming to this garage! SSC in hudds - always makes me feel inadequate when i've got the crappest car there lol!

Currently drooling over this:

Daren't go upstairs into the showroom - ferraris galor :'([/QUOTE]

*is sick* :p

Yeah they do bud. Its a mate of mine who has an office and workshop in there, downstairs from the main showroom (it used to be the old Peugot garage).

Its a separate company called Automotive Gadgets. Hit me with some trust bud and I'll sort you a deal out with him. He's very good, usually does stuff like LED/Xenon headlight conversions etc - very experienced and well equipped - unlike me and my £5 screw driver set lol :)

Nice one cheers!!

Hi Motors! Been cut up for the last time today by a BMW driver who just pulled out into my lane without indicating and when I beeped him he just brake checked me so I need to get myself armed with a dash cam.

I've been looking at the Nextbase 512G ultra with the hard wire cable, is this one any good ?

I need one that displays the speed on the recording as i'm one of these people who go through speed traps without speeding but then doubt themselves so going back to check a recording would be peace of mind.

Anyone use /recommend a decent mount for an sj4000, It's fine on the bike but I want to use it in my car ;) And i don't have a suitable dash sucker mount :(

It's a bit rubbish in the car as a dashcam really as it's big and all mounts are also fairly big.

I use the suction arm from this pack with the SJ supplied frame when I want to film stuff in the car but as I say, big and bulky, fine for occasional random filming but not really ideal for a dashcam situation.

I don't mind the size of it ;) It tucks away nicely behind my rear view mirror and I can't see it at all without the huge waterproof case on.

I have it in the smaller clip on bracket attached to my old satnav mount but it's not built for the job and slides off sometime :D

That's why I have given in and want the correct mount.

Had somebody go through a red on a roundabout today causing me to brake hard and busses/other cars to sound their horn, 5 minutes later I had somebody speeding cut in front of me to join another roundabout... idiots...

Really need to get my dashcam ordered. :(

Most proper mounts will be bulky, like so:

Why? It won't suddenly stop people from driving like idiots.

I've found Dashcam drivers fall into two categories, really.
I've got one installed and other than one incident where a Birmingham bus drove through a red light (that was red for a good 10 seconds) almost hitting someone crossing the road, which I sent directly to them to investigate, I've not felt the need to get other footage off.
I see my fair share of bad driving, 60 miles a day through Birmingham means I get no rest from people pulling out, slamming on brakes, drifting into other lanes and the like but I'm not one to put stuff on Youtube for the sake of it.

The other group who will put every little thing on (including stuff where it makes both parties look like an ass).

Yeah I see what you mean, Mines like that but smaller mount and slightly tucked away more :D In hindsight it is a bit of an eyesore lol

Replaced my unreliable mini 0805 camera today with a blackvue dr650gw-1ch, more expensive but I'm fed up up of the faults with the cheaper cameras - my mini 801 was great but the 805s were very poor, I ended up with 2 of them plus buying new bases and they still played up frequently. The blackvue sure seems a quality bit of kit, got it neatly hardwired so it's pretty stealthy. Like the app to control it and the WiFi streaming functionality beats the tiny screen on the mini series.

Okay, people have them so when others drive like an idiot and hit you, you have some proof they were driving like an idiot. Hence why the previous chap suggested he needed a Dashcam as others around him were driving like idiots.

I thought it was a little obvious. My apologies.

May be worth noting I'm a new driver too, so I do have a lot of learning to do, so if something happens that isn't my fault I'd like proof. It can be bad enough with a no fault claim for a new, young driver (or so I hear)... and I don't want the risk of them blaming me as who will they believe, the 20 year old who's been driving 3 months or the 40 year old who has been driving for 20 years?

Hello, looking at changing dash cam, not sure what to get, have a mobius atm, and want something similar, main requirements are, small, no screen would be good and around £100.

i have been looking at SJCAM sj4000 wifi, anyone had a go with it?

What Möbius?

The sj4000 is shaped like a gopro and if you read above q few posts the mounts for them are ridiculous unless you get creative. You could look at Runcams maybe ?
