Dashcams!

My Mini 0903 just seems to stop writing video after a while...not entirely sure why. Will probably replace with a more reliable camera...

It's not really a massive issue though is it? You can just get an app to stitch them all together if you want a full hours worth of footage or tell your media player to just continue to the next file? I can see why they are short clips (60 seconds), it's because it would take too long to download a 1 hour clip if you're doing it over wireless.

For your comment about some clips only being 15 seconds long, I would guess taht the shock sensor went off and the rest of the footage is under that section rather than the continuous mode.

No its not a huge issue, was just wondering how I could review the whole journey but I see your point about wifi transfers

Funny how they chop out the start as the rider obviously did something to provoke such an action in the first place.

Both were idiots, but throwing something out of a window at a motorcyclist is ridiculously dangerous. I imagine the biker dropped him from the lights or something and I'm not sure he even did do something to provoke it. He seems to pay the minivan no attention as it drives past him, which I think he would have done had he just had an altercation, and only responds and speeds up when the passenger swears at him out of the window.

So have found the fastest way to review the captured footage is to take the Micro SD card out and put it in the computer instead of using wireless transfer.

Any suggestions on stitching clips together without something like Adobe Premier?

Wife mentioned that she wouldn't mind a dashcam so thinking about adding one to her xmas list, looking through this thread and what's available on amazon there are so many choices.

Any recommendations as I really don't know much about these?

Thanks

0806 was playing up over the last few weeks. Randomly would bong bong bong as if there was a collision or something, then other times the recording LED would be static and the unit could not be turned off.

Figured it was overheating since I was using the custom 24Mbit firmware and that has been speeding up component wear. Reverted back to the latest stock firmware and no issues since. Only downside is the video bitrate isn't as good now, oh well.

I have not actually pulled anything off it in ages, just casually glance at the status LEDs to make sure it's working from time to time. Guess I'll just leave it as is now silently doing its thing and ignore it until the day an accident is recorded and I need the footage.

Friend has recommended a Nextbase 512G (but only as they have one and had no issues), whats the thoughts on this device?

I'm shocked at how many different cams are available.

A lot of the cams seems to have the same design, a bit like same innards and similar casing but different badges.

The 512 is good, but a couple of years old, there are better sensors out there.

The "action cam" I have as my rear cam is actually my favourite actually for size, quality and price. I've actually never had any problems or complaints with both my cams.

Hi guys - any recommendations for something below £100?

I was never really fussed about getting a dash cam but with the standard of driving I'm encountering it wouldn't be a bad investment in the event I was involved in a bump.

Do they just pop off or once wired up do you have to leave them on the windscreen? Just concerned some opprtunish thief may think it's something worth stealing.
