I bought some trim removers, with comedy 'Chinglish Instructions' to prise the trim panels away enough to tuck the wiring (power and rear camera feed) up the A pillar to and from the camera, and along the head lining front, side and Rear! took a little time to get it neat, but the only wires visible are at each camera!!

in my Focus you can just open it all up slightly with your fingers and just tuck the cable in all the way around to the fuse box which is located passenger footwell

Due to the crap drivers where i live, I am thinking of investing in a Dashcam, any recommendations. I dont want a huge device!! i have narrowed it down too Nextbase Dash Cam 512G or the Asus Asus Reco Classic. Any advice would be great

Nextbase 512 is supposed to be good You can buy this one from Halfords I think

Not if the job involved anything more complicated than plugging the dashcam into a 12v socket and sticking it to the windscreen.

I've narrowed the choices down to:-
Nextbase 512G - Small unit, affordable price, however large mounting bracket
Thinkware f770 - All singing all dancing unit, however higher cost
Opinions?

The nextbase is no comparison to the thinkware.
If you can afford it - Theres many here including myself who will highly recommend the F770. Make sure you factor in the cost of installation too though bud - its need to be properly installed with the hard-wired kit if you want to take advantage of the Parking Surveillance mode.
If you want a direct comparison it's the Thinkware X550 v's the Nextbase 512G.
The F770 is far superior, customisable and discreet in my opinion (I don't like dashcams with screens on them) - hence the extra cost. Down to you and what you want it for bud - if theres any chance you need to monitor your car after its been parked - then go for the F770, otherwise look at the X550 is what I would recommend. The Nextbases's are just generic cameras rebranded for halfords and the like. hth

Just to update, finally looked into this... Wasn't firmware related at all
It was actually due to having the cloud features enabled, despite not using them, as that forces the auto-wifi on to be defaulted/locked to 'ticked' and can't untick it
Turning off the cloud features then allowed me to turn off the auto-wifi on.

Difference between the plug & play and hardwired versions, is it just a case that the latter comes with the additional cables to run constant power?

You need the hardwire version if you want to be able to use the parking mode..
Hardwire version uses a 12v constant power and 12v ignition switch power feeds

Yes the camera hardwire is exactly the same and can be used with the plug & play cable and hardwire cable..
So you could move it from car to car,
But you also need a second screen mount http://thinkwaredashcam.uk/product/f770-mount/
It also very easy to clip it in & out of the screen mount..

The silver writing on the black and silver number plates are a nightmare for camera's when headlights are shining on them..Could you tell me the number plate of the car you are following?
