Dashcams!

It's pretty much the reason I went for a discrete unit with no screen. I almost always forget it's even there. When I see a suction cup bright screen stuck in someone's field of view with wires trailing down in their way, that's when I start making assumptions about that driver :p

Lol. Glad to know I'm not alone then!

Me too. I find it's usually a Citroen too.

Looking at getting one for our car, reason being currently learning how to drive and now I'm.driving in Bd4 I see how terrible it is from a drivers perspective! Would £60 get a decent one? Also how do they not drain the batteries?

Need a camera for my new car. Is this a good kit?

Anker Roav Dash Cam C1 Pro, 2K Resolution 2560X1440, Built-In GPS/WiFi, 2.4" LCD, 4-Lane Wide-Angle View Lens, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording, 2-Port Charger, 32G microSD Card, Easy Sharing https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072FVX74Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mq6YAbV0N2FYX
Anker and Aukey both make good kit and they review well. Video quality generally seems to review well so if they have the features you want, I'd go for one.

Thank you Shiwarrior and Kenai. I think I will stick with the Anker as I had a £50 budget before and now have stretched to £100 and not a penny more. So I think I will go for the anker

Quick question - is hard wiring a dashcam too difficult for a ham-fisted gorilla to do? I can't put a shelf up straight so a dashcam would concern me. Or can I get this done professionally? Car is a 2010 XFR

Hi

im like you, i cant put a shelf up or do any DIY (always screw it up, no pun intended)

but dashcam was easier than expected on my car
Fuse box was in the passenger foot well, all you do is research the owners club to find out what fuses you need, check it is the correct fuse on your own car before attempting.

Pull the ignition live out and place it into a fuse holder thing, and the fuse that came with the dashcam into the 2nd slot on the fuse holder, plug this in the that hole where u pulled the fuse out, then wire to dashcam (ACC or what ever its called)
same with the other wire (but not ignition switch this time) the other one just needs a grounding point, that's it
