Dat beard

Hmmmm, might have to get some of that Kalamazoo stuff and a brush as it's coarse and despite edge and straggler tidying, not as neat as I'd like.

My effort, been growing it for about 8/9 months. Occasionally trim the sides but leave the length to grow. Got a beard care set from the other half at Christmas which has come in very handy to care for it; comb, shampoo, balm & wax.

I just can't get beyond the 2 week itchy phase before dry shaving it all back to stubble.

Respect for the beards fellas.

Melt n Smelt on eBay are good for beard oil, they're really reasonable prices.

I like Grave Before Shave as well but they're US based. They're not too expensive off Etsy (still cheaper than the expensive UK brands) and I like the smell of them. And the packaging is rad.

Most seem to do the same as that stuff is meant to do from browsing about, in fact the stuff you mentioned (and I'm now tempted to buy) includes the Jojoba oil someone else mentioned to use. I just need a brush/comb and maybe some wax to keep it tidier until a decent/better length.

So what exactly do beard balms and oils do as the only thing I use is the Lush beard wash.

Oils I use to get right into the skin, beard growers would know about the dreaded beard dandruff. I find making your own beard oil is cheaper than buying it outright which tend to be on the more expensive side.

As I said in a previous post, I've been using Jojoba oil for the past year and it helps immensely with the look of the beard and the skin underneath the beard.

Oil for a better looking and healthy beard, mustache wax to keep it in place and do some crazy styling if that's what you're after. ;)

I prefer beard balm to beard oil it's a bit heavier so helps tame the fuzz while still keeping it soft whereas I find oil doesn't really give any control.
Wax is a different beast again which is used to really hold it in place say if you want to get a fancy handlebar tash on the go.

To be honest, if someone knows of a good set (balms/oils, combs etc.) that'd be perfect as I need to get hold of all the bits really and really can't be bothered hunting around for individual bits right now.

This is the set my other half got me for Xmas. Soap, balm, 'stache wax and a comb. Smells nice, and feels nice after giving my beard some love :D

And you have a kingly beard!

That seems slightly more affordable and good for an initial try at managing it, can then move on to stuff like Beard Emporium later if I decide to keep it and maintain it.

I feel ashamed as I had to trim it this morning to catch straggly hairs so I've once again set back the growth (only two and a bit months in but have trimmed it 'even' a few times).

E not so kingly here:

Haha thanks dude :D

Yeah it's really good value considering the price of the items separately. Once I've used up the soap and balm (they'll be used up first for sure) I'm going to try some of the other brands mentioned above :)
