***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Just got my ass handed to me while hiding in a little shed in Bolota, looking out a little window when i heard footstep behind me, only it was too late and i found myself taking a fist full of 5.56.

anyone on here? had a fair bit of kit, m4, plenty of mags, magnum, pistol etc.
 
The first person also makes me feel a bit sick, I like 3rd person view a lot better but people using it to look around corners was annoying and cheap so I can see why first person was needed
 
doesnt bother me i love how people think its more skillful than 3rd its just as easy. infact its easier to kill people than third.

It is nothing to do with how you get the kill, in 3rd person you can see above and around walls which you can't do in first person, pulling the trigger is no different but you now can't spot people around corners unless you stick your head out.

It's not about killing people, 3rd person makes it easier to see and spot people before there even in line of sight.
1st person makes you think more and have good awareness.
 
This video explains the issues of 3rd person very well & brings up valid points (it's Arma, but the same engine as DayZ)

We've switched our server to FPP only today and it's proving very popular and imho it's more immersive.
 
No more standalone from me until they sort out the hackers, glitching zombies and combat logging.

Took me an hour to jog to the military base below the NWAF, went into the first barrack building near the jail. Almost finished looking around in there and heard a couple of shots and sure one of them almost hit me - so I went and heard in the shower room and closed the door. Heard someone running who then came into the barrack building so I axed them to death. Collected some good stuff from their body and then heard more shots - sounded like the jail building so went and hid in the shower room again after closing the doors. Then suddenly bang bang and I'm dead.... no one was in the room with me and there are no windows and the door was still closed....

I'm thinking the person that killed me had the PBO file removed so they had buildings etc... turned off...

Also not a fan of the 1st person, yes it might be good if you are playing Arma, but DayZ is designed for 3rd and 1st person.

Died about 3 times yesterday evening because you can't see how close you are standing to a zombie when in melee combat. One of those times I got sick and didn't matter if I took antibiotics, painkillers or even a saline drip could not cure myself.

TLDR: Thought Alpha was full game
 
Nah 1st person is how it needs to be, also it is very much alpha. Best thing to do is login and play when patches come out to see what has changed. But hey I just went and got Dead Linger so will be on that for a few days LOL. God devs love idiots like me..........

You know what, I have a ton of alphas on steam and all of them seem to be a hack fest from what I read on forums. Not sure how the devs off these projects will combat it tbh. Private hives and good admins is the only way forward
 
The only time 3rd person should be on is if they implement this:


Tried a quick mission from the guys who made it, works perfectly.
