***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Dean spends more time flying across the globe going to events and spending time mountain climbing than he does developing the game. :p

I've actually met Dean, he's a decent guy but does love himself a bit too much

Don't tell DG that m8 you will make him jealous, you should have got his autograph then DG would be in tears of anger. I mean you met him, that is his dream come true. All he gets is unanswered fan mail the poor lad.

am up north at the airfield :D

bugger all loot though someone must have taken the good ****

I'm currently at Novy Sobor, although I was aiming to get to the Airfield (first) then the Mil base. I approached from the North too and somehow didn't see or pass the Airfield at all.

Was royally confused - wandered for an hour around looking for a road sign or town name, then stuck it into Google to find out where I was on the online map!

(haven't got a full map yet, ingame).

I'm find the lag a huge pain - zombies warp towards me, then I am swinging my fire axe at them, and hits not registering until the 4th or 5th hit. That is with ping 18-20 too. Was left with the faded vision and character groaning yesterday. Probably dead now lol

Witcher, if you want to meet him, he may well be going to the next Rezzed event which should be late summer 2014. Just waiting on the dates!

I want it to come back to Brighton :(

Rezzed is the end of March in Birmingham again, looks like he is going to be there again though.

Ah ok, last time I went to Rezzed it was in late summer but that wasn't in Birmingham. Damn it, oh well at least I've got Geek to go to in Feb :D

Indie games and Retro systems, love it

The zombies were exactly like this for me all the time in the mod... I distinctly found it annoying when you were in what should be a tense situation - trying to hide from other survivors with a buddy or just running away from a fight wounded looking for supplies, when suddenly some zombies turn up...

Instead of carefully working as a team to neutralize them in an efficient way the amount of times you'd just waste all your ammo because they're lagging and derping about so wildly that you can't reliably hit them, or get killed because as you say trying to axe them they'd teleport behind you and get a few hits in meanwhile your own barely register... Infuriating...

I didn't then and still don't understand what could be so hard about improving this aspect

Come on boys lets not get off topic, we were talking about throwing eggs at Pocket (intentional) no? You know what DG is like and his report button, bless em.

When you have the fire axe in the up position (handle is vertical in first person) the contact point when you swing changes - it's not the centre of the screen but somewhere to the right and it makes it a ton harder to kill zombies. You need to press the assigned raise weapon button (space by default) to put it down and then you'll have much more accuracy at hitting them.

I heard that adding vehicles and player-buildable bases asap would actually make the zombie movement a lot more predictable and stable - so no worries; the priorities are all in the right places

how would they when zombies just ignore structures and walk through them? sometimes they are halfway into the floor and just walk through the world like its not there.

it's like they have noclip because the ai would break otherwise
