***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Me and one of my friends bought this last week, still trying to work a lot of it out, but we're enjoying it despite both me and him being shot on sight on numerous occasions before we could even speak on mic or gesture.

As we were near to the airfield just north of Khelm we decided to go in to an airfield for the first time. I'd already spotted a zombie running towards the hangars from the middle of the airfield so I said it's more than likely that someone was already there. I go through the entrance on the side of the airfield where all of the buildings are as I noticed the ground goes downhill on that side so I'd have partial cover from the other side of the airfield, my friend opts to go the other side of the airfield.

I reach the building before the control tower and my friend says he's spotted someone on top of the control tower so I go around the left of the building I'm behind as there is more cover. Then my friend then announces the guy just fell off the tower which I though was an odd thing to do on your own. Quickly go and check his body and he has an M4, loads of ammo and loads of food (food was more important to me and my friend as I had a Mosin and my friend had a double barrel rifle). Friend comes running over and I go in the control tower to see if anyone is at the top. I hear burst fire gun shots and my friend is now dead, I'm in the control tower and can't see anything around the airfield.

I go to the bottom of the tower and hide behind the stairs watching the main door for a few minutes and this guy randomly comes bounding across to look at the building next to the control tower. I then make myself known by trying to speak to him but he runs off and doesn't respond.

Ended up watching out of the control tower for 10 minutes before taking the plunge and legged it to the nearest tree line and off back in the direction of Khelm. Sounds a bit wussy really, but I've only ever shot a zombie that was stood still at medium range with a Mosin as I've never even played the DayZ mod, and I didn't fancy trying to take the guy out close range at the control tower. I didn't like how open the area was either once outside and didn't fancy my chances against what may have been a seasoned player.

We're both now at Rog and I still have all of my gear, but neither of us have food and my friend is minus everything he had before the airfield :(

Bugged items.
Check your inventory, if you have any items that are missing textures or the textures are flashing, dump them and move away from the area. The same for if anyone you are with has any. If you are in about a 50m - 100m radius of bugged loot or someone with bugged loot the game starts to freeze up.

I found I had some bugged cans of drink in my yellow box, game was almost down to 5fps. I dumped them and ran, stutter went away. This has been confirmed on DayZ forums also.

Ahhh,

wondered why every 10 seconds I was getting a second of lag. It was most frustrating! Cheers.

The issue, that I've found, is that you can't a lot of people playing DayZ. I've tried to be friendly way too many times only for people to go nuts and attack me, so it's shoot if they have a gun drawn for my and my friends who also play.

That's what i do now. Lost too many characters trying to talk to armed dudes. I was attacked on 2 separate occasions today during talking to new spawns, idiots just started punching me!
They are now dead.

Any clues as to why there would be no loot anywhere? I can't find anything in the towns on the OCUK server.

Everywhere I go all the doors are open, does the loot not respawn?

Loot respawning isn't automatic, its done through a server restart, most do it every four hours. I've not played on the OcUK server so I've no idea if its broken or not, but some servers can be bugged.

if doors are open the buildings been looted.

either find server that restarts regular or empty one this is temporary while they sort the zombies and loot respawn. hopefully this should be patched soon.

don't go to the usual places for loot. best going above behrizino to new town or other barracks out way.

Honestly you are best sticking to some of the less well known towns if you don't want to meet people. Berezino is a spawn, Svetlojarsk is often visited because it is new and not that far from a spawn point. Electro is a nightmare, as is Balota airfield (which is no longer worth the trip as all the tents stopped spawning loot).

The two guys I play with and I went through quite a few different cities, towns, bases, airfields today and honestly the least looted areas were places like Zelenogorsk South West, Pustoshka West and the little military bases you find dotted about.

until there is actually something to do me and a few friends via skype just go round looking for people to kill :D
although only if they are armed, we're not total *****, lol
