***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

I just had a good run - spawned in at Novy Sober east of stary, found some food, a canteen and a water bottle filled them both up at a well and headed out through stary, got a hatchet/ backpack etc then headed to NEAF.

on the way I found a small military compound, 2 barracks + a jail. Looted a pistol ( no bullets ) A awsome tactical vest, 35 slot backpack, combat gloves + boots and a gas mask. Aso found 30stanag rounds and a m4a1 in the jail.

Got hit my a zombie and bled out! Couldnt find a t shirt anywhere to make a bandage, now am unconicious ( the timer is 45minutes i think.....)

Overall am liking SA, its so different than normal DayZ there is so much more focus on survival rather than combat, gameplay is slightly slower pace I have a 7 year old PC and performance seems a lot better compared to the mod.

Ive not really seen any issues with zombies, they are slow and easier to out run or dodge, plus they don't spawn in on you anymore so the numbers are a lot less. Their hit range is fine and they don't zig zag.

I know its only alpha much it needs to direction or some endgame in sight, but its tens times more polished than the mod.

And for the love of god give me a daytime server!

First rule of DayZ, find a hospital for meds.

Before you read my post below, I just wanna say this is not trolling and I am sharing my opinion, if you are a fanboy of the game, skip the text below.
__________________________________________________________

I bought the game, but I think it is better to convince myself that I have lost some bucks than playing this game at 30FPS with high end hardware.

Dean actually said, multiple times, they were coding parts of the game from scratch, said some b*** about "Server Side" and insinuated how it would magically improve the performance on the game. The truth, though, is the same as always. Dean is a game developer, and like all of them, not any different than EA.

I also, I would like to share something I read on the page of the game in the Steam Store.

DayZ is currently in early alpha and we see a lot of work ahead of us in order to make it the true authentic multiplayer experience we want it to be. Current version is including only small subset of game mechanics and serves mostly as test bed with core technology that should serve as basis for future additions and improvements. Currently planned key future features are:

Playable vehicles We can't even find a soda can, how are we going to get a chopper (useless)
Wide variety of native animal life Kinda ok, but there is way, way more things that need to be fixed, changed, even regarding gameplay
Player created constructions in the environment Just kills performance and immersion, as it makes those ugly building throughout the map
Extensive interactions with the environment (?) and crafting options Just minor thing, nothing impressive
Streamlined user actions and interface (?)
Upgraded graphics and physics engine (including ragdoll, etc.) Cool, we are going to get even worse performance
Control and animations expanded and improved for fluidity Animations are already good, there is no need to overdo them
Support of user mods It's cool that there is going to be community mods, but vanilla is always better, regardless

We estimate that reaching Beta version with all key features present will take more than one year from current stage. All features and plans listed here are subject to change, we may add or remove features as seen fit during development process.

So basically, within one year from now, the game will be just as it is today, but with some silly things added. No actual improvement.

So much for good hack protection, what a load of ****

Everyone on the server just got killed and our bodies dumped at the beach. Sigh

You don't have to be a fanboy to realise that a game that is apparently not going to be in a decent beta state until a YEAR has passed is not going to be in an amazing state right now.

Really..do people not have the ability to read before they throw money at a company?

I've not bought DayZ and I probably won't do until further into development. I'm not enough of a fan of the game (i.e. haven't even played the original mod) to feel like spending money in order to alpha-test their game for them.

edit: Post aimed at blacblu. Though, Neil, haven't they said that anti-hack is knackered atm?

The only thing I see right now which needs some attention is the night time issue. Every single server seems to be night, which is great but people who go to work can only play at night when they get home LOL.

Yeah, I know the game is Alpha, and I really don't give a crap about bugs, I played the bugged MOD anyway. The thing that makes me cringe is that SEVERAL times it was insinuated that the standalone would have better performance, but the truth is that it doesn't and as you can see from the text I copy pasted from the page of the game on steam, it is official, they really give no **** for performance and consecutively, immersion.

I don't know about you guys, but performance wise, I can run it pretty well on Eyefinity with a single 7950oc. Ambient Occlusion kills almost half of my fps and AA does it's fair amount as well; take a look at your settings, overclock that CPU and it should be fine. Compared to Wasteland or the Mod (even the campaign in A2) it does run better, at least for me. :)

PS: Isn't the game going to be more expensive as development progresses? Why not buy it now if that's what you want guys.

I have 2 7950, even turning crossfire doesn't do nothing. I have all high, AO off AA and **** on low.

The game is actually unplayable, I would certainly not be able to handle some shooting if I had to.

Performance or features, you are lumping it all into one. Saying that all developers are akin to EA marketing is rather clueless as well. I'm not sticking up for Dean there by the way, rather myself.

You sound like someone very angry at spending £20.

Had another play and its unplayable for me until they sort out the fainting feature which sucks. I ate and drank loads but still randomly fainting which essentially killed me again.

Mine is pretty much the same.

I understand that its only alpha and that they are going to work out a lot of the bugs but I just don't understand how they've taken this long to change basically nothing.

lol I just got axed and the guy didn't even touch me :D

This is how Rocket has done this, HYPE IT up while releasing barely any updates. Show small increments of improvements to give the crowd something to look at and then release near christmas to bring in the most profit. Game was built on hype and it is actually in a worst state than DayZ as a mod. Hell epoch was far beyond this!

Yes I know it's Alpha but there's no excuse for it to be this bad with the tools at his disposal :)

Strangely I'm getting great performance on 1 ATI 6950 so go figure.

40% downloaded. Few questions guys.

Are the spawn locations for your character random?

How many weapons?

Is it endless till you die, like Arma DayZ?
