***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

GTX 580
i5 2500k
8GB RAM

I can just about play smoothly with most settings on medium/low with certain things off but it still gets laggy in cities.

Your rig isn't that far below mine and I can comfortably max the game with no issues. You sure it just wasn't a laggy server? Lag in ARMA 2 basically just killed fps for some reason, and this is basically ARMA 2.5.

We had to wait a couple years for this ? What have they actually been doing all this time, slackeat devs ever !

Runs as badly as it has always done, poor performance in cities, zombies terrible etc and in terms of UI/presentation it looks like a mod.

Destined to flop

I get no performance drop in cities, in fact cities have never been better, check your hardware or lower some settings it is alpha for a reason and some machines it may run terrible on. Although it does need more optimization.

LOL you have no idea.

runs as bad as ever ? mainly running at 60 fps with near enough max settings lowest drops are to about 25 fps in big cities but it doesnt feel as laggy as the mod. bear in mind alpha state so that will improve. so if lows is 30 fps in big cities thats fine by me.

so my tip would be play at the right settings for your pc and you should run it fine. zombies are more or less place holders which will be updated a lot.

if you dont understand think of most things in game as working items that are going to be upgraded every short while until you get to where you want to be. i fear we shall be repeating this over and over during the " ALPHA TESTING " :D

It's basically the same as the mod though only with less stuff, two years and it feels like they have got nowhere, they say a year for beta... I say i believe it when I see it, how long until full release ? 2 years ? Painfully slow development

Should have just scrapped it ages ago and switched over to arma 3 engine tbh.

Jaynos blah

Is that your expert opinion?

Do you know how hard it is to take a game and then modify a framework from running scripts for everything into a standalone application?

It is MILES more optimised than Arma2!

All of the characters are animated properly now, gas stations will blow up, all things lacking in arma2 dayz.

This is all very good stuff, but I still get no more than 40fps on Low video settings... I'm baffled as to why because the textures are bland compared to BF4.

BF4 is made for consoles though.

I am running every setting maxed out and get 40fps all the time but it feels like 60fps, I don't see any stutter or lag at all. Remember this engine is primarily based around cpu and memory performance, maybe you need to tweak your bios?

So...

Not read much of this thread (or the official forums for that matter), but loot is extremely scarce isn't it? I fell unconscious as did my mate in a matter of 20 minutes. Between us we found a rotten banana, rotten kiwi, a wrench and a motorbike helmet lol.

Awesome.

Two things I've noticed on the technical front.

- No SLi support yet

- Tragic frame rate when looking at, or in large towns still

- Green cap would stay at feet when worn

Also
- Get stuck walking and key strokes will not change it without restarting

- Flashlight beam stays in last point when putting away (leaving behind a light stain to tell people you were there)

(Yes I know it's an alpha but brings back memories of the the mod)

I've not played the mod for a good few months, possibly half a year. Yes this version feels empty, but in the same breath it also feels more like a game. The character models, the lighting and general feel of the engine is coming together nicely. After the warnings they've put out that this is an alpha and that people should expect the game to be sparse, the fact people are still moaning is quite funny really.

With the mod my general feeling after I stopped playing regularly was "ok that's enough now". There are a lot of varying servers and it was becoming difficult to find a well balanced one, with the addition of scripting and admins taking advantage server resets constantly. I'm sticking with this. With the public having access to it now, give it a couple of months and it's going to come together.

Yeah loot is scarce, it will get better I am sure. The new patch means that drinking from wells directly works now, no needing a bottle to fill up (i love this dynamic) which will help a lot!

Cheers Saint.

Second time round I actually spawned in a lake. I just looked down, saw the prompt and started slurping lol.

I might be a few versions behind here, but I notice they've finally sorted the zombie animations. Is this something that had been added to the mod?

Omg i take it all back what amazing features lol

The fact these were the best new things you could think of says it all.

Also you do know it's ok for someone to dislike something that you like and vice versa, I know video game forum dwellers tend to struggle with this concept though.
