Is that the best this 'big update' has got? Jesus how long are they going the carry with this utter garbage?

I installed it again in Feb, I fell off a box and broke a leg then a zombie killed me from the floor below through the ceiling.

Uninstalled.

There are some new hats, a fire has a nice crackly sound, wall clipping is still a thing and its still bug ridden bog of eternal stench.

Well given the amount of time this game has been out (its now been in Alpha for over 3 years!), the fact they are still working on texture, sounds and lighting enhancement is frankly amazing.
This is basic engine stuff that should have been addressed well before adding in new loot items and the like, also the sheer amount of bugs that still exist is also mind blowing again given that it was released in Dec 2013.

The game has so much promise, but its been totally ruined by lacklustre development, awful support, mediocre choices and no end date for the process.
 
.62 took months to come, it's has the Arma3 sound tech, weather effects, and a reworked map. I still think the game has enormous potential but the development is painfully slow
 
Well I installed it last night and it does look a lot better and the forest certainly has a different feel.
However it still controls awfully, simply rebinding keys is still mind blowingly difficult and you still don't feel connected to the mouse.

The ambient sounds aren't great either in that while in the woods its sounds like there is a sodding canary on your shoulder at all times.
All the same gameplay flaws still exist, within 5 minutes of me logging on a zombie punched me through a closed door.

Uninstalled again.
 
Until they fix the core mechanics, like combat and zombies and what not (assuming they still haven't) - I can't bring myself to play this. I still want it to be awesome, but last time I think I gave myself AIDS by using the wrong blood bag adaptor or something.
 
I know the following is not about Dayz at all, but I wish their was a Battle Royale mode for how this game performes now. A much more long stretched out survivalist game compared to PUBG. Just something to bring back players and a new shed of light to the game, It looks and performs beautifully now. It just needs something new to grab new and older players, plus Dayz survival zombie mode will always be the heart of it. Even if they let modders get hold of it and see what they make of it.
 
Loved the mod when it first came out but they've lost the plot with this. PUBG captures moments I enjoyed the most from Dayz but a nice balance between the two would be great.
 
I just gave this a go after at least 18 months since last time. I dropped into a random server and found my way to a town and there was no loot. All the doors were open. Does the look respawn?

I half agree and I'm not defending the developers but that isn't how game development works. Alpha is where content is added and the engine/mechanics are added or completed, beta is when optimisations and bug fixes come in.

The amount of work they've put in on DayZ since '13 is shocking though.
 
Saw the thread bump & mention of a big update, got a bit excited to find out that essentially; the grass now moves and it rains sideways.

Sigh.

The game had so much potential but the whole alpha/ development phase has been totally lacklustre. It's such a shame, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a game so much as when the mod was first released.
