DayZ - Standalone Thread

He really needs to set a date and stick to it, otherwise it'll end up being like the new Duke Nukem, which by the time it came out flopped.

Things take time, as he said couple times. This not as easy people may think, the standalone needs to move a lot of the game files onto server to stop all the hacking and make it more secure.

They is a crazy amount of stuff he adding and changing to the engine not designed for what type of game dayz will be.
Hence the long time.

the reason its not out yet is down to server-side wasn't ready for public alpha test.

if its stable enough for june it will be available june.

regardless E3 is where youll know what is what and that's june the 11-13th i think and dayz are there.

Lost interest in this now it's just not good enough to say this and then fail to keep to it, The game will be short lived when released now as the hype has most certainly dropped off which is a shame was looking forward to playing it. :(

Hype dropped you joking? Go and look up the server list on Dayz and you will see loads of full servers, and thats a buggy mess it tuck almost 10mins other night to get onto a dayz breaking point server.
The hype is still very well strong and dayz is going to be one of the biggest PC releases this year.

yeah servers are still plenty and still packed. a lot play this still those thinking it will flop are very very wrong.

From what I read rocket might be back from Everest earlier than originally planned, talking about returning end of May, rather than start of June.

Rocket was the on with the 'vision' to create Dayz in the first place, better to keep it in the hands of someone who has a clear vision on what they want, than appoint others to oversee it.

why would he allow the arma 3 mod version out at same time as selling standalone. it makes no business sense to do it.

sHANKS HAS ALREADY ANSWERED MY point, and that is that ArmA is a sandbox which encourages modding. If it's true the brat Rocket stopped people releasing a mod on a sandbox game, then I hope his 'baby' does flop.

I think you'll be one of the few minority then, but that wouldn't matter anyway as it seems you have a massive chip on your shoulder in regards to Rocket. It is his baby and is also owned by Bohemia, it would make no sense at all in allowing it to be brought out on Arma 3 when there is a Standalone being made.

I have to admit i was really looking forward to this, but now my hype for it has died down and i am not to bothered now. If and when it comes out who knows i will probably jump right on it, but i know not to get to excited about it at the moment as there is no indication on when it'll be released.

I'm a bit peeved with myself for foregoing the mod in favour of the pending standalone version (I also used the fact that I didn't/don't have a great PC as an excuse). I just have a nagging feeling I've missed out on the hay days of DayZ (in either form)...

It's still a good game and with new mods like Breaking Point and a few of the others coming out it's keeping the game fresh enough for people to continue playing and the vanilla one still has a lot of players.

I just got annoyed with the bugs and decided to give it a break until Standalone, I am sure my excitement will come back for it come release but in the meantime i wont get to excited.

yes... but people are suggesting dayz is maybe in its hayday so im just showing them of things being done now which aren't out yet which disproves and shows how the dev team are doing lots behind the scenes which isn't known about or has been seen.

some of that if not most will carry over to standalone as well.

taking away big snipers will make the game a lot better and a lot less static and campy.

Thanks for the blog link DG.

Looking forward to standalone - not getting much time to sit down with any games though at the moment :|

Here is a complete run down for an M4A1.
Stage 1. 1 inch metal pipe > 2 Glass Bottles > Scrap Electronics > Battery > Cable Tie = AIM

Lmao! making a telescopic sight out of a piece of pipe and a bottle, thats gona be accurate :D
sound cool though, will bring much more to the game

As for the argument about Rocket banning the Arma 3 mod personally I think theres room for all these things, this has been borne out with the amount of mods there are currently and there are still plenty of people playing. I would still buy the standalone even if the Arma 3 mod looked prettier

I thought it would be obvious why they don't want Dayz mod on the Arma III engine, they are a business after all. It will never be to same product level but still you want to separate the two. Publishing will be heavily involved now Dayz is a viable IP.

yes i dont think theyll want to confuse people as they are selling the mod as a game and giving it basically to people for free after this much work would effect sales.

so i cant see it coming to arma 3 to soon.

Please keep the thread on topic, this is around the standalone version of the game and NOT the mod.
