DayZ - Standalone Thread

Please keep the thread on topic, this is around the standalone version of the game and NOT the mod.

Out of interest can we create a new DayZ mod thread? I'd still like to discuss it.

Just have a set of clear rules.
No promoting servers.
Do not accuse anyone of hacking or using admin tools to their advantage.

Just give out holidays for the people that seem to want to cause trouble.

Seems very unfair to punish everyone for the select few people who were bickering. If not, that's fair enough. Just thought I'd ask.

BEst thing i've read they're adding is frequency tuning radio's!!! That should be some fun getting to a telephone pole to boost the signal and list in for radio chatter!

Do you think anyone would use it though? Or is it a replacement for global chat kind of thing?

I thought about this and yes i think they would! Reason is, while everyone uses external voice comms, there have been many a time when i haven't been with my clan mates and have linked up with randoms. So yeah who knows, you might find a few small groups who dont have voice comms who will play on the same server each night and use the tuned frequency on that specific server to see if they're online!

For example, "Hey guys we should play on this server, i met this guy last night who knew where an enemy camp was" etc etc. i Think it has HUGE potenial!

I'd like a DayZ server thread and mods aren't fussed around having links to servers as long as these are over used, or abused.

The issue with the thread was the constant bickering, arguments etc between what is a select few.

I'd give it a couple of days before creating a new one, you never know, the old one might make an appearance under a new guise :)

I find it hilarious how people get so worked up over a game. Suppose it shows just how consumed they are by gaming though and not the real world.

I hope this standalone does well but I really think it will fizzle out after the initial bang on release.

I think it was more down to one particular person who was the catalyst for the constant mayhem but BS’d his way out of a ban….

Anyways, Biggest mistake I’ve made is playing wastelands after Dayz, from there you just don’t see the point Dayz the mod. I’m just holding out and not really playing anything atm. I was quite surprised by a friend of mine, he’s never really been a PC gamer until I told him about Dayz, he was obsessed like we all were, but only ever played on his own. He’s now completely given up on it said cos of hackers and just bored of it…

I do have complete faith in SA tho, so long as they can link the player’s progress to the forums you’ll find people will be more stats hungry and play it more and more.

Most looking forward tho to drunken Friday nights trip to the airfield in a bus with the clan mates. That has been without a shadow of a doubt the most fun I’ve ever had in any online game!

I was exactly the same, after playing wasteland I couldn't get back into DayZ. I want the standalone to do well but I just cant see it having the same buzz as the original mod.

Sounds awesome finding a bus and repairing it to take your clan mates on a road-trip LOL

Also would be ace fun to ambush said bus from some woodland :)

Wasteland is a completely different experience though, I don't think you can compare the two fairly.

For me personally, in wasteland I get no attachment to my character because I know that if I die it's easy to find another vehicle, weapon etc. In Dayz it takes a while to get the good equipment, you're desperate not to lose it. I find it works better for playing on your own. The only reason I play wasteland over Dayz is if I want a firefights and a relatively action packed game. Also I hate the way zombies only spawn around players at the minute, far too easy to tell where players are. Once this is fixed in SA though it will be great. But wasteland will always be there for some quick, more immediate action.

The bang bus is great fun! We had one loaded fully up back in day when vehicles were rare and went for a drive to Chernogorsk. Ran into a few other randoms who were greeted by a bus load of people jumping out and brassing them up!

I've played Dayz for a long time, i loved it when i first came across it and still enjoy it now, however now ive found wasteland, like others i dont see much point in going back (until the SA)

The main reason is that 90% of players i come across in dayz play the game like they are playing wasteland, looking for guns/vehicles etc, not to survive but to hunt others/have clan battles etc...and from my perspective thats not really what Dayz is about (though i appreciate everyone has a choice)

Wasteland is great as i can let off steam find guns/vehicles easily and don't really worry when i die, id rather die in wasteland to a group of well geared players , than getting mowed down by a truck carrying a clan full of people with high end gear who then go on to clear out most of elektro..simply because they are well geared and want a laugh in dayz (this all happened last night to me!)

i have very high hopes for the SA and try to follow the progress...however the constant "It will be done when its done" line is starting to grate slightly

What is it with the DayZ threads on this forum? Is it not possible to get away from all the trolling, egos, bickering and willy waggling.

Perhaps all the threads should be closed for a couple of weeks to allow certain people to find a new home and hopefully forget this forum even exists. Maybe we could then get back on topic.

what cause my op differs on wasteland some consider it a troll

what is wasteland its just arma 2 !

dayz is atleast trying to go a different route with crafting and making it more survival.

wastelands is just all guns all vehicles kill each other that's it. there is no expansion for it its just wastelands. understand a lot of you like it and you have popular servers but its not as big as dayz is and isn't as good.

if it was it would have been made into a saleable game but there is no point as it is just arma 2.
