DCS: A-10C Warthog (first screens!)

The only date given is "2010" and after Lock On:- Flaming Cliffs 2 is released in "early 2010"

The developers, Eagle Dynamics, are more inclined to postpone a release rather than have a buggy product (DCS:- Black shark was almost bug-less on release), so they never give firm release dates.

I own a Thrustmaster Cougar. Amazing HOTAS but the stick is very difficult to use in heli sims.

I haven't even installed a flight simulator in about 18 months :( Just got out of it for some reason, I used to be hooked aswell...

Nate thanks very much, cheers for the link. Gonna spend some time learning the basics when I get my stick and game delivered later in the week, but will be cool to hook up online with a few of you guys to get into some multiplayer missions.

Really cant wait for FC2 and A10 after having seen the latest screenies, thanks for keeping us up-to-date!

:)

out of interest what joystick do you guys recommend for blackshark, this sim, arma 2 and wings of prey?

I have a sietek cyborg but it is turd, the throttle deoesn't hover at certain levels, its either off or on.

I don't wanna spend hundreds but do what something better than my £20 one, something where the actual throttle works properly.

Hi ,
Owning both an X52 and an X52 Pro , I would recommend the X52 , the pro
does not add much more and is too pricey , I wish I had of know this before
buying it :(

Sounds like some very cool features are being implemented for the A-10. The interactive JTAC/FAC sounds cool and on the other end of the scale - a Multiplayer chat lobby at last.

Nate

Edit:- Other stuff

SimHQ were at the E3 expo checking out Thrustmaster's new Warthog HOTAS

Engadget were also at E3 checking out the HOTAS with DCS and LO:FC2

New Vid showing the A-10C. Note that this Vid is from "The Battle Sim", which is DCS's military cousin. However, although TBS and DCS share much of the same code, there is no player controlled commander or FAC in DCS Warthog as far as I know.

It's good to know they are modelling the CBU-103/105 WCMDs, they will make life a lot easier in areas with a high MANPADS/SHORAD threat, obviously combined with GBU-12s and -38s. Hopefully they'll also model the CBU-97/105's BLU-108/B sub-munitions properly, or at least as well as possible rather than have them behave like normal cluster munitions.

Whatever we end up with it's going to be simply awesome, it really is going to be great to have a new fixed wing study sim, I might even be able to retire Falcon 4. I am looking forward to flying with the Ka-50s, it'll be great being able to pass co-ordinates to pilots flying other aircraft types in multiplayer and have them be able to do something useful with the information.

And I've already got the cash pre assigned to pay for my HOTAS Warthog, Cougar MFDs and Simped F16C-USB pedals. Really can't wait for this.

It'd be even better if you could 'lase' targets for one another.

You can already do that in Black Shark, and given the work they are putting into the LITENING pod I have no doubt you'll be able to do it in A-10C as well. Based on information I've read over the past year, they already have it modelled to the level at which you need to enter the laser code, so for buddy lasing you'd just have to enter the same laser code as your wingman who would be lasing the target for you.

Also, the AI JTAC will be able to lase targets for you as well.

Wish they'd do the Apache Longbow next, that'd be awesome.

Indeed it would but it would most likely take a military contract for it to happen. Know anybody high up in the British Army?

A Westland WAH-64 sim would be very nice indeed.

Some work was done on a AH-64A, but has been suspended indefinitely as far as I know.

Thanks for posting this Nate, I was totally unaware of the Black Shark game which looks amazing! So, i've ordered that along with a Trackir - I don't think the missus is too pleased though :)
