Dead MSI GTX 570 RMA'd and reported working, not sure what to do next

Called up OCUK to chase my card. Told it was still in testing and that it was working. Decided I'm wasting my time, so have just paid the return fee. I doubt very much it was tested a second time, as it's magically been instantly dispatched the minute I've made my testing payment. In the 5 weeks since I paid for the card, I've had it for 3 and had to chase it up this time while being nagged daily by email for money by OCUK. Money well spent.

Rather fustratingly, I had to use my mobile on my lunch hour to call them, to be placed on hold at 35p/min only to get put through and hear people shouting and swearing and generally **** about in the background. I wasn't aware those were requirements for testing components or even answering the phone so customers aren't kept on hold. Another £3.50 down + £21 testing charge and return free + £9 initial return free, I should have just got a 580. Nevermind, I won't hold my breath to recieve a working card back tomorrow, and will probably find most stuff from the box missing anyway. Lesson learnt. Will report back when I've put the card back in my pc.

Just on the off chance did you try reseat the card before sending back, my old rig with a 5870 was fine for 6 months then started to freeze and artefact lots.. Finally after a fresh copy of windows and trying different ram I was at a loss then I removed the card blew the slot out and put it back in problem was fixed and still working now 16 months later lol

The age old 'blow in it' solution. Not only useful for SNES cartridges :D

Seems like I was lucky when I got my KFA2 560 and had to send it directly to them instead of OcUK. KFA2 found no fault with my card but I persisted and eventually they replaced my 560 with a 570.

It surprises me this has happened. I had an M4A79XTD-EVO which had intermittent issues, I took a vid of the issues and told them it is intermittent and I got refunded.

Do you have pictures of the artifacts? I reflow cards and can tell you which part of the card it would be originating from.

Anyone getting problems on a brand new 400/500 series should just ask for a refund straight away and save yourself hassle by getting an alternative card.

There is a massive thread on nvidia's forums from people with card problems where the suppliers just cannot find a fault. I bought a 480se from OcUK that froze at the login screen, I read this thread and just got a refund and then a 6950: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=187401

Doesn't matter if you swap to ATI or another Nvidia, it seems that certain GFX chip & mobo combinations just won't work (from artifacts in games to failure to log in to Win 7 or even boot). Weirdly some of the posters swapped out the 'bad' card with an identical model and had no issues with the replacement while the original card worked fine with a separate mobo...

Unfortunately not, although I imagine I'll be able to tomorrow night once I put the "working" card back in my pc, which I'm using with another GFX card in atm to post this without any problems at all.

I feel for the OP, I had a disgusting experience with OCUK's customer service and certainly wouldn't spend another penny there.

I brought a harddrive that was advertised as new retail, but was clearly 2nd hand. It had scratches all over, and the drive was actually formatted, partitioned and labelled. I phoned up to complain, didn't get an apology and was told I would have to use the web note system. I never received the RMA details and despite chasing up over 10 separate times and still not receiving the required returns information, I eventually gave up. I really wish I had taken this matter further, but at the time I wasn't able to.

I hope you get your card sorted, although doesn't sound too hopeful. And I hope somebody at OCUK reads this thread and gets their useless customer service sorted.
