Dead MSI GTX 570 RMA'd and reported working, not sure what to do next

Just because it's working now doesn't mean it's without a possible intermittent fault. So don't jump to conclusions just yet! Time will tell.

Someone talking some sense.

Some people in this thread may find it suprising, but I've been building PC's for over 10 years and have even worked in a PC shop during that time repairing PC's and have seen my fair share of knackered gfx cards. It wasn't a case of a noob saying "I'm bored today, I know, I'll RMA my 3 week old gfx card for the lulz".

Personally OCUK should pay the RMA shipping on an item if the item is over a certain price, if an item is not found to be faulty then the customer should pay the fee to have it back.

That's fair

A friendly attitude goes a long way I sent a ty14 fan back as it ticked they said they cant see any fault so I thn asked nicely if he could test again in a quiet room which he did and I was refunded. There's a certain deal website out there and everyone votes cold and has a go at ocuk for having dodgy customer service I love and hate ocuk at the same time i sent a 4200ti back long time ago after it broke and never got a refund or a card back and was ignored I couldn't be bothered going to a small claims court at the time as was very busy with work and everything so basically ocuk stole £150 from me I still shop here though which is the strange thing, now that's customer loyalty !

Exactly. For a customer to RMA a card is a last resort. It's not exactly fun arranging an RMA, packaging it up, taking to the post office, paying postage fees that you might not see again and being without a card for weeks. I don't know who in their right mind would go through that before trying everything else possible first.

What happens when you get your item back and low and behold it is just as faulty as when you sent it in?

If I ever buy from here again and get a duff product (which becomes apparent after DSR return period) I will make sure it is properly fudged before sending it back. Properly

Sending an item back at your own cost which is definitely faulty, in a measurable and repeatable way, being told it's fine and being charged to your card for "testing" is not fun or in any way fair

I feel obliged to say that the fact that OcUk have not deleted this thread shows an excellent approach to Customer Relations.

I am sure that most threads of this nature on other sites would be deleted very quickly.

I have some sympathy for the op but do not consider that OcUk have done anything wrong.
Their rma procedures are normal in this industry - including testing and requiring the op to pay the costs of return etc. (It is my understanding that if fault is found then the company will refund the return costs so nothing unfair there.)

Generally although it might appear to the consumer a good idea to have a returns procedure that provided ' You send it back within ....?.... and we will refund you without testing or question', it would not be,as such would (undoubtedly be abused! and) result in business failure / an enormous hike in prices.:(

I hope I never to have deal with a situation like the one the op is facing - It must be extremely frustrating ; intermittent problems always are:( Good Luck !!

Ok... So I've had the card back for about a week now. Played a grand total of around 10mins of Battlefield due to being busy with work and other boring stuff. Sit down for a Saturday afternoon gaming session and.... *drum roll*

Nice.... Card was 60deg at this point. The box has a load of BS on about the card meant to work for 12 years or some **** at 70 deg.

GTX 570 LSD edition

Well this is one of the reasons i do not shop with OC anymore, Pretty bad customer service when i had problems with a monitor a while back.

The other E-Tailor I use do this. You send all RMA's back via them through Parcelforce, they pick it up and next day send it to the Manu.

If your gonna spend £1500+ with them it's the least they can do.

Also when I built my rig and it wouldn't post, and it turned out the GPU was in perfect condition, THEY offered to pick up the entire rig and test it, replacing the faulty component (in my case was the mobo) and shipping it back, all next day PF. For nout.

Whilst OCUK do seem to have great service, never used them thankfully :), there are still ways to be better.

For one, troubleshooting posts that involve a component bought from them, which gain forum momentum, are rapidly picked up by CS and fastracked and investigated further.

Maybe that's how it's suppose to look?

Lol j/k! Get it directly RMA'ed with MSI and when it's replaced OcUK should refund their test fee. I'd personally be asking for my shipping to be refunded too as that card is truly ****ed!
