For anyone who's on edge about buying these cards, let me show you what performance these beasts offer ;)

Sure enough i've got a fair bit of experience in the Overclocking field, but it gives you an idea of the true potential of these cards ;)

That's with a 256mb Connect3D X1800 XT that was bought right here at OcUK! I imagine the Sapphire won't be any different :D
Your benchmarks make mine cry, you're a bad bad man. :( I wish ATi Tray Tools supported overclocking for the X1*00s, I'd just use ATi Tool but then I'd probably have to use the bloody Catalyst Control Centre again for HDR+AA etc. :(

I wouldn't buy a card now and not be able to use it for 2 months.
Thats maddness, In two months time they will be even cheaper.
Not necessarily true, remember the deals OcUK had on the X1900 XT's and XT-X's? Well it's a long time on from them and prices aren't near what they were ;)

I think by july time they will be. I might be wrong but with new cards immerging its highly likely they will be cheaper.

Why the hell did you say "probably see big drops on the 7900 sries" he's not even asking about Nvidia's.....he's asking about current ATI X1800 offers. Although if he's not building a machine for two months it is a bit daft buying components now (except for things like cases, PSU, keyboard, mice) etc that stay roughly the same.

Go troll somewhere else.

I think I might leave it for now, if I was building the PC now I'd already have one ordered but you are right, 2 months is a long time with regards to PC hardware.

I don't care who makes my graphics card as long as it works, is fast and doesn't break the bank btw, so IMO the 7900 comment wasn't trolling if he thinks they're going to go down :)

Thanks for the advice

Ok guys Im almost convinced but need a little push, how much performance if any will this card offer over my 6800'gts in sli?? Im running them with a 3700sd and 2 gig of ram, but having to keep the cpu at stock because of the poor overclocking motherboard I got (Gigabyte K8NUSLI) TBH my system is struggling and needs an upgrade but dont want to swap for something that wont give me a noticable fps boost.. monitor I use has 1280x1024 res and also use a sammy hdtv sometimes

Very tempted to get the 580 motherboard aswell, :)

What?

I was using that as an example.
Just like ALL pc hardware drops in price.

whether it be x1800's or 7900's.The fact that pricing of the 7900 is so high is because of the lack of them.

The x1800 does not have this problem of shortage so hence the low price. ;)
It basic economics not trolling.I have read many of your posts and you use the term trolling to freely IMO insulting people who clearly no about hardware and have vaild responses.

You merely just repeated what I said and yet you call me a troll?
Sorry you have lost me.

Might be wrong here, but will the new release of the catalyst drivers enable crossfire without the need for a master card?

If so, do you think I should buy two of these?

I want this confirmed too (going dfi rd580 2x x1900xt soon)!

I did read in Overclocker magazine (i think) that mix/matching the ati cards with catalyst drivers was being scrapped so dont know if they have scrapped the idea of enabling crossfire with no master card all together :(

A random name. I just checked the link to your 05 score. That's bloody good. You are obviously a skilled overclocker, cos that's a lot higher than any other X1800XT score i've seen. You must have pulled out all the stops cos there is no way you game at that speed (as much to do with the CPU as GPU i suspect). Can I ask what mark you get at your normal gaming speed?

Am I also right in thinking that you only stopped pushing your GPU further was because you got to 11k? Is there room for more?

Thats the point there is no issues regarding this card. Except it's a deal Sapphire just made better for me today and hence they are now even cheaper for OcUK customers. :)

Just checked the spec of the PSU in my PC (It's an Evesham Axis I got through work on a HCI scheme). It's an FSP Group 350W PSU, seems to be a couple of figures for amps , +12V1 is 10A and +12V2 is 15A. I'm pretty sure this PSU aint gonna be up to running an X1800XT would I be correct in that assumption? I do have an Antec Trupower 430W PSU in another PC rated at 20A on the 12V rail, perhaps I could do a transplant operation if that one would be ok! Can anyone confirm my suspicions regarding the FSP PSU, is it as crap as I think it is?

Cheers,
Andy.

Most of the people on here will tell you that the 350w won't be up to the job.

To be honest, I think it will work ok. You definately don't want to be going any lower than 350w but I think you'll be surprised it will work :)

well when i spoke to ocuk on the phone when i was ordering my x1800xt they said i would need a 550w psu.

so decided to plump for this :-

Hi,

The most powerful cards you'll be able to use in dongleless Crossfire will be the X1800GTO. Anything more than that will still require a master card.

Search around the net, the info is out there... :)

You joking? They will be going back up, hence why the 512MB is still so much more expensive. Both X1800 XT's will be going up in price once our DEAL stock has sold out which is expected to only last around approx a week.

You said that last time though, like when this guy bought his card!

Exsomnis said:
God damn you Gibbo. :p LOL. You told me to buy one of these for £190 not long ago because the price would be going up £20, not down £20. :(
