Soldato
I wonder if any of those statements include someone saying "You call all just **** off!"
1. It doesn't work as a deterrent.
2. The law is imperfect & inevitably innocent people will be executed, the law can also be corrupt.
3. I don't like giving the state the power to execute citizens, that in my opinion is the ultimate expression of authoritarianism.
4. It costs more.
5. It encourages violence to escalate, singular murders to become shoot-outs/multiple homicides (as the penalty can't get worse than "Death"), when used for rape/paedophiles it motivates the perpetrator to then kill the victim (to reduce the chance of getting caught) - also humans can do some quite extreme things when faced with survival.
Haha man I got to number 2 and I was thinking...hmmmmmmmmm...but you recovered it.
I'm kind of half serious with that post.
The saves money and deters other crime arguments are completely blown out of the water. So all that remains is the 5 things I mentioned...

It's amazing just how many of these people appear to be religious.
So stupid, weak and criminal. Viva God!
The kid didn't complete high school, he almost certainly had a pretty rough life up until that point and of course that doesn't excuse what he did, but it does inform us as to the why he got onto such a situation and didn't realise or consider the full consequences and import of his actions.
I feel some empathy toward him, because but for the Grace of God, I could've been him.
I just wanted to say thanks to all who have supported me over the years: Reverend Campbell, for my spiritual guidance; Aaron, the father of Darrian, my son; and Maurie, my attorney. Thank you everybody. This is not a loss, this is a win. You know where I am going. I am going home to be with Jesus. Keep the faith. I love ya'll. Thank you, Chaplain.
Yes, Warden. Mom, Celeste: Please know I'm innocent and I love you both. Please continue to fight for my innocence even though I'm gone. John, Cort, Allen, Barbara, Louis, and Anna: Thank you for helping me and trying to save my life. I love you. Give everybody my love. Jason, thank you for your friendship. Thank Laura, too. I love all of you. Bye. Ok, Warden.
This offender declined to make a last statement.
I'm an innocent man. I did not kill anyone. Ya'll are killing an innocent man. My left arm is killing me. It hurts bad.
