Decent game controller?

In Gamesir Nexus app you can just set up the custom buttons as you see fit, oh and I use 2% inner deadzone for the sticks as setting to 0% can result in some idle drift in some games.

The top custom buttons for me are set to RTSS and game recording hotkeys, with shift layer enabled they function as show/hide RTSS and Steam stats overlays too.

I used the digital module on the Phantom and achieved this stick calibration. This controller doesn't even use fake circles lol. The most accurate circularity I have seen yet, my G7 Pro is around 6.7 for both sticks in the same raw sensor mode. This is the hall effect version not potentiometer but now that I've been playing with it for around 20 hours in a single game the last week, it's definitely on par with the pot sticks.

For budget options is it still between the EasySMX X05 and the 8Bitdo Untimate 2C?
Ultimate 2c between those two I would say.

@mrk

How do you map msi ab overlay to the top buttons i.e. l5 button

Here is my setup:

So the main layer activates the screenshot button I have mapped in RTSS which is NUMPAD + for R5, L5 is the button that records game videos which for my setup is NUMPAD 3.

The shift ;shayer mapping for L5 is to show/hide Steam stats overlay which I have set to NUMPAD 4, and R5 shows/hides RTSS overlay which is NUMPAD 7.

Im in the market for a new controller and the G7 Pro has caught my eye.
It helps I've got £50 rainforest credit recently from IPSOS to take the sting out the price.

I only play on PC and steam deck so console compatibility isn't needed.
Used dualshocks and dualsense as well as xbox controllers.

Just wondering if it's worth it. My kids have battered the 8bitdo ultimate i have and the right trigger is showing signs of wear after 6 months so I'd like a controller that's mine.

It's a nicely put together controller with great performance so yeah gets my vote

The dealbreaker for me is the G7 Pro doesn't work with Nintendo Switch 1/2. That for me is a must for any 3rd party controller.

PS5 and Xbox are single player consoles, but my Switch I play Mario Kart so I need it to be compatible.

For switch support will have to go for a non licensed controller as G7 pro is officially licensed Xbox

I have the Gulikit KK3 Max for the Switch - really nice to use (can swap the ABXY buttons about for Xbox or Switch layout)

I also have theh 8bitdo ultimate which works with the Switch. My priority is Steam compatibility on MacOS, then Switch 1/2 and then Steam Deck. Then Xbox and then PS5.

I have 2 official PS5 controllers and last I checked, there isn't that many 4 player games on that, at least I don't have any. But both Xbox/PS5 are single player consoles and I only have 1 Xbox controller, it's fine for that purpose. I use thees 3rd party controllers on my Mac to play steam most of the time, like the Cylone. When my sister and her kids come over then we play mario kart which is when I need like 4 big controllers.

Really nice controller.

Decided to use 1 of the ball sticks just for the colour, not like I use the right stick much.

Comfortable and a much nicer dock than the Cyclone 2 as it is sturdier and easier to dock the controller. Comes with a purple colour matching USB cable and extra SNES colour.face button that sits in the bottom compartment in the dock.

BT to Switch, flip to 2.4Ghz for my mac.

Is the right stick plastic or rubber? Looks shiny so assuming plastic?

Sony released a DualSense firmware update and I can update the phantom but am wary about losing the Hexgaming customisation features and calibration module features if I do that, not sure how that's implemented, might need to email Hexgaming to find out as technically it's a DualSense on the inside with the Hexgaming mods on top so maybe the latter exists on its own and you can update via Sony's FW updater as normal.

That's a shame then, right stick is camera so not being rubber would be an issue for me. The nostalgia from the colourway as a GameCube owner is strong though.

I have the new EasySMX X05 Pro on test but the review is on hold as I have found a major deal breaking issue which they are working on a firmware update to resolve. I don't know how other reviewers are handling this but I was just up front and said I cannot continue testing it until it's fixed. the triggers activate 100% hair trigger mode if you gently actuate the either trigger 3 times a short distance, so if you are driving and use RT to accelerate gently, then 3 soft pulls of RT will result in 100% throttle activation as the controller thinks it is in hair trigger mode.

This is a silly design decision lol and I'm puzzled how they let that slip through.

Apart from that it's actually a fantastic controller, the D-Pad is probably the best I have used on a controller so far, it's got those tactile silent switches that feel so good do use, think Logitech MX Master 3S style silent switches but a little more clicky. Has the additional shoulder buttons too so can be used as a Switch Pro controller nicely.

If they fix the trigger issue then this is easily a budget winner. the sticks feel great too.
