Dell are cheeky sods!

Dude we've been under this particular contract with dell for 3 years now and I can say for sure the Previous D series Laptops are a complete joke I've had no end of engineers coming out to "solve the problem" by which they mean replace the faulty motherboard with the exact same model with the same fault that'll eventually rear it's ugly head again and as for the newer E series of Laptops they've apparantly got no end of H.D.D issues that several of my colleges have encountered in recent weeks.

I used to work with the E series laptops every day and I hated the things. We did have a lot of problems with the hard drives on them as well. The build quality on them was horrendous!

People who buy these so-called "gaming laptops" get no sympathy from me.

"I know, lets shove a high-powered and very hot graphics card into this tiny case with inadequate cooling! Nothing will ever go wrong there!"

There's a reason these laptops generally don't tend to last much longer than a year.

Fairplay to that however the ones causing us so much problems are their business range of laptops they've no excuse!

Currently remote connected to them on my laptop whilst they have a poke about looking for the issue.

So frustrating. ¬_¬

Tiny case? Have you seen the size of these laptops?

You still haven't explained how I am "mad" or "know nothing about computers".

I don't have a clue what they're doing. My guess is stalling. :/

he is just wandering around device manager etc repeatedly. Lets hope he dosen't stray into different folders. ;)

I have dealt with Dells muppets before, a 1 day old laptop dropped it's wifi. Some moron logged on remotely and clearly had no idea what he was doing then just cut off. We returned the laptop and bought an Asus, flawless so far.

I'd never buy anything from Dell ever again, I should have known better the first time tbh.

he's now said he's talked his manager and that they'll need to track down the people who repaired it. They said they'd get back to me within 1-2 working days.

****ing *****

When my gfx cards failed in my 1730, dell sent a guy to replace it the next day at my work, I dont understand why you had to send the laptop in???

Don't accept it hold them to their word and demand they send an engineer out with the correct components it will not take them 2 days!

Couldn't. Pushed as hard as I got, but was hitting walls left right and centre. They refuse to do anything til they've heard back from the department. (basically insinuating that I'm lying and that I only ever had one graphics card!)

Not a happy chappy.

Kenmare - if you go here:

http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor.../details?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml

and stick in your Tag, you will be able to see what config Dell have a record of.

Maybe able to use that to your advantage.

This is freaky. the service tag number under my laptop isn't recognised on the site, nor my express service code on the phone. And there is also a different service tag number in the bios now. :/

The hell is going on?

Citizens Advice Bureau. Follow their advice, if you have a legal right to repair and aren't getting it, you need to go about it the right way, send the right letters etc. CAB will see you right.

Might even have to do this. :/

Sounds like while it was away the motherboard was replaced, they are meant to use a Tag update tool to over write the tag on the replacement board (refurb) with your existing Tag. sound like they forgot to do this. this alone, never mind the parts issue is enough to get an engineer back out.

The Build quality is laughable not just accroding to me but most of their customers who've had the same or nastier hardware issues than mine a three year old could build a better laptop!

I've had two Dell notebooks (a 630m and an M1330) and both were very-well built, and excellent value for money too. Same goes for the two Dell desktops my parents have, they were absolute bargains and they've never had a problem with them.

People who have bad experiences simply tend to shout louder, that's all.
