Gamma being all over the place, movies and games look washed out. Windows Desktop the most.

Yeah...

Thing is...I would rathher have grey blacks than a spotlight in every corner....

At least it's not as off putting

It was 45, but just tried 11 and it's a tad dark for me so settled on 20

I'm considering one of these to buy for Christmas. I'd like to see the price a little lower though, around the £500 mark would be nice.

Others I'm considering are the freesync BenQ 27" 144hz TN and the IPS one from ASUS (both around £450).

If i had take a shot i would say the retailer is making at least £100 a time each monitor sold, that's pretty good.

Tried searching online (in device manage options) and it says the best driver is installed but clicking driver details says no driver files have been loaded or are needed...

Got the monitor drivers from Dell site and installed and rebooted. No luck.

Have you plugged it into a usb 3 port on your pc?

Yep, multiple ones.

Every time it's reinserted windows makes a noise and acknowledges it has seen something inserted. But plugging in a USB stick into the monitor doesn't make any noise.
