Dell U2711..is it worth the money?

The warranty is with the monitor not the owner. I bought my u2410 from avforums unopened. I phoned dell to see if I could transfer the warranty but they said there was no need as they know when it was sold and if its in the 3 years whoever owns it they will replace. As I said they replaced mine just before Christmas with just the serial of the screen and customer number on the box. Refurbished from ebay will be different obviously.

A Guy on another forums had 2 of his old 30" dells that had a month or 2 warranty left replaced with 2 u3011 screens.

On topic of ms and fps gaming. I gamed on a 19" widescreen samsung monitor 940bw for years and recently bought a u2412m. The samsung was a 75hz with 5ms and the dell is a 60hz with a 8ms.

At first playing quake live i did notice a difference when in fast paced action. But after a while I got completely used to it. I am not sure how much of it was just getting used to playing at 1920x1200 rather than 1400x900. I also only have a 3850 so i think that contributed a bit and quake live is generally known for its lag. I have played other games but as I play qlive the most that is best for comparison to the previous monitor. On other games I did not notice any significant lag issues due to the monitor. Maybe If i had a better graphics card I would notice but that remains to be seen.

You're right, I phrased that badly... It's based on the service tag, owner independent...

I really can't wait to get my hands on this. I may end up with 3 of them if I like it.

Just done a tax calculation for this year, I was on emergency tax for bloomin ages and i'm due quite a substantial rebate after the tax year ends. :D:D:D

So when I get the first one I'll try it out and if I like it (can't see any reason why I won't) I'll add another two after april.

Ill probably have to double up on 7970's in xfire (or move over to the green team if a GTX 690 emerges) to handle the res, though 3GB VRAM should be plenty I'd imagine.

Cracking price less than £100 more than the current Hazro pricing now :o

Im still considering the 3011 but i would be mad not to get this at this price.

I have been contemplating a 3D screen tbh but am probably better off getting a tv than a monitor!!

Is the price ever likely to get better than this? are there any new models due out soon from dell?

very tempting, but I need to do some more research rather than yet another impulse buy!
Need to measure up as well so I can see if I can fit a 27" monitor on my workstation as 2 x 19" is a bit tight

Dont fret too much, i got it better from Dell, but that was several specials and discounts later, which are likely happen again. But if you dont want to wait then I'd get it. Also the one from Dell is in black.

At this price, you could buy 2 U2711s for £100 more than 1 U3011! I would definitely take that route, personally...

The price drops suggest a new model may be on the horizon, however if one is released - it will be closer to U3011/apple pricing I would expect - from previous trends.

The new model may have an improved AG coating, but that wouldn't be worth a few hundred quid to me as it's really not bad...

Impulse buy never hurt anyone :)

If you have 2x 19s... width wise, you're save - height is up to you tho :D

Does anybody know if it comes with a dual-link dvi cable?

Yes... + VGA + displayport
