Dell U2711..is it worth the money?

lol @ people saying there's an issue with input lag on these monitors...

It's certainly not stopping me from being in the top ~3 per server in BF3 and MW3... so it can't be having any real negative effect.

Try it, you'll be surprised how un-noticeable it really is.

Don't like it? Return it... that's what the DSR is for.

Im with you fella... I have this screen and it simply blows my mind - I have no idea how anyone could purchase this and not be amazed.

All of my friends jaws drop when they see it.:D

I had one delivered over the weekend and its great...apart from the stupid anti-glare which is awful. On light background like word/excel/website the AG makes the screen look fuzzy and partly out of focus. Real shame as its a brilliant monitor for everything else.

I am in between ordering a U2410 (to be part of a 2x24 setup) or 1x27...it's for casual use really, but as I RDP into work sometimes it's nice to have one screen with RDP and the other with my PC, or say Sky Go on 1 screen.

What would everyone else's preference be? Does 1x27 with 1x24 look stupid?

Personally - I prefer sRGB, I find Adobe RGB a bit too "cool" colour wise (blue tint)... whereas sRGB is warmer (red tint).

I haven't really played around much with the settings, found it good out of the box on standard!

I've noticed that blue tint..

Dude on here saying... "4. using adobeRGB allows you to see more intense colours if the photo/content you view contains it."

Another question is what settings do I mess with or leave alone in my Nvidia Control panel.. Heard 3D Artist keeping everything gamma 2.2.. Monitor, 3DS setting and Graphic card settings???

If it's for home use... doesn't really matter what it looks like unless you have mates coming over to check out your system frequently and that bothers you...

I currently have a BenQ 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor sitting next to my U2711 - not so keen on the monitor itself, but it doesn't look too out of place, especially as the pixel size is quite similar (albeit still bigger on the BenQ).

Also, worth noting that you don't *need* to have the RDP session full screen. Depends what you're working on...

I'm WFH today & have a VNC to the work laptop @ 1920x1080 (could just hook the display up with display port, but I'm trying this for a bit) + an RDP session within a Virtual Machine set to 1920x1080 too.

With itunes + messenger on the second screen... then emails up for the most part on the work laptop.

Nice find - you can really see the difference in that comparison simulation.

I've downloaded the ICC profiles and done the tweaks suggested, when I can reboot I'll give them a test :D

I am going to be buy one of these tomorrow, i need to come from a Asus 560ti to a
U2711 for a 2560x1440 resolution can anyone link me to the cable needed on ocuk? I know it has to be Dual-link DVI but not sure if it's Male to Female/Female or what.

Thanks, will post back when it's all set up, my thoughts on the screen.

You get a dual link dvi cable in the box matey - Dell aren't as cheap as Hazro ;)

You also get a displayport cable...
