Dell U2713 HM

Expected delivery date (still on processing though)

I think I just died alittle inside :( as-well as my back account cursing me.
 
Arghh, I take back the whole no bleed thing - tried watching a movie on it and there's an obvious yellow cast bottom left and top left covering a quarter of the screen.

It's bearable as you can't tell on anything but >75 brightness in a pitch black room with a black screen.

When I had the brightness at 85 I felt like I was burning my eyes out. Why would you want it higher than 75? 55 is comfortable barely. I get the impression that everyone is complaining about backlight bleed and hasn't actually considered putting the settings on what is actually usable. That said, I didn't have any at 85 brightness, but if I didn't have back light bleed at 60 brightness I would be content.

Not so. I did not check the back light till i had run both the screens for at least 1 hr and calibrated them first. Calibrated brightness was always below 35.
 
I called up Dell this morning to say I wasn't happy with the replacement either and after speaking with her supervisor the CS rep said that they are going to "give me an upgrade" and she'll call me back by 1PM to say what it is. No idea what that means but I'm hoping for a U3013 :p.

I was just joking, surely they wouldn't replace a U2713HM with even a U2713H just because I wasn't happy with the BLB on two monitors? I paid £CENSORED for the HM and the H is listed as twice that.

They offered the U2913WM but it's not something I'm interested in so they're going to see if another replacement can be sent and if not I think I'll be getting a refund. It'll be a shame if I end up without the monitor as I've enjoyed using it for the last week but I don't feel I should have to accept something with such a noticeable flaw especially when the main reason I wanted an IPS was to have panel uniformity for photo and texture editing.

Wonders Why did you order these monitor/s in the first place when they are well know to have backlight bleed ...:confused:

One replacement so two monitors so far, both with pretty severe bleed. Am I right in thinking you had 2-3 before the one you currently use?

They're known to have a chance of having bad backlight bleed. There are plenty of people who have little or no bleed at all.



Unfortunately I missed the call and they left a message saying they'll ring back later but it's after 5PM now so I guess it could be a few days before I hear from them now depending on whether they are open tomorrow.
 
I've had 3 separate samples and none of them showed any severe bleeding at all. One had some slight clouding in the bottom left hand corner but the other two were pretty much perfect.

75% chance is a gross exaggeration! :) some people have had issues but you tend to only ever hear about problems and there's many other happy users who just get on with enjoying the screen
