Dell U2713 HM

I've spoken with them today about getting another replacement or a refund and they've said that I can either have a refund now or they can send another monitor but by the time I received that I would not be able to get a refund after.

I'm not sure whether to gamble really, the chance of getting a third dud is slim and it's going to be a long time before I could get a monitor with these specs for anywhere near the price I paid but I'm hesitant about ending up with one that I'm not completely happy with.

Does anyone know whether I'd be able to get any more replacements once I'm out of the refund period? If I can continue swapping them out until I get a good one I'd definitely go for that option but if I have one more attempt and have to keep whatever I get I'm less certain.

Anyone had any problems with the USB ports on this monitor? I have tried mine plugged into both USB2 and USB 3 ports on my motherboard and can't seem to get them to work. They don't even show up as extra ports or unknown devices in device manager. This is Windows 8 btw.

That looks terrible to me. I couldn't live with that. I think these screens are flawed, it shouldn't be a gamble, they are expensive!

^ If you look at the begining of the video you will see glowing coming from the 4 corners when the camera is pointed directly at the monitor straight on, that is backlight bleeding. When the guy moves the camera around the room, the IPS glow appears which lights up the entire screen.

Just got mine via UPS, had the yellow hue in the bottom left extending almost to the center of the screen and crosshatching on the bottom half of the screen, no other faults. Was a Jul 2012. Going back for replacement.
The black/white levels looked abit iffy even after calibration. No deep blacks and the whites looked .... dirty, like a yellow tint, I have no clue what that is about, maybe its because I'm using a monitor right now which has a bright white? (purposely made like that via nvidia color settings), its a proper white and deep blacks. I could get the monitor to display a proper white but then the contrast went to hell and movies looked horrible.

Also the factory calibrated settings (sRGB) which are supposed to be near perfect apparently, where HORRIBLE, the whites where heavily tinted with yellow and the vibrance of the colors was totally pathetic compared to the monitor I'm using right now (a Asus LED), just dull and lifeless.
In fact all the presets had horrible color saturation/blacks/whites and could only be fixed by adding vibrance/constrast etc via the nvidia color settings like I do for this monitor.

Totally not what I was expecting from a IPS monitor, thought it would have vibrant color, its worse than this crappy LED....
The size of the monitor is amazing though and the resolution <3.

Just noticed a red stuck pixel on mine, have slight backlight bleed also in the corners, not hugely noticable but that with the red pixel and I called up and asked for a refund, pretty good customer service really, was no issue at all with returning it.

Shame really because the picture is really outstanding compared to other monitors I have used in the past, maybe if they fix the small issues it has then Ill rebuy in the future.

Well I've just bought one of these. Hopefully I'll get one without any back light bleed.

I paid £430 which I think is a good price, but reading back a few pages seems I might have over paid?

Anyway, how do you think a 7850 will cope with one of these?

Yeh you overpaid, Dell had a 40% off deal that ended on the 24th, took the price down to 366, with free delivery. Then 10% quidco or 11% topcashback, taking it down to 325 ish.

A 7850 should be fine.

I'm using a 7850 (at sig clocks) and it's fine

BF3 runs on high (w/FXAA) at 57 fps avg running around on 64 player armoured kill
Bioshock 2, The Walking Dead, Dirt 3 maxed out locks at 60

Haven't tried much else

As far as I know the cashback didn't work if you used the free shipping coupon (shipping would be on top of the 366 without coupon)

Still waiting for my replacement...terrible service tbh in regards to replacements. They should be sent out ASAP like RIGHT AWAY, it was "shipped" aka in there warehouse waiting to be given to UPS a few hours after I called to get a replacement, since then my replacement has been sitting in there warehouse for 3 business days waiting to be shipped to UPS, what? I expected it to come today at the latest but it hasn't even gotten to UPS yet, its still sitting in the warehouse. I won't get it till at least Wensday now due to new years. Terrible, just terrible. I may be being asking too much here but for replacements which is the direct fault of Dell and there incompetence at testing things in the correct way (aka in a dark room with a black background, instead of just testing the brightness of the center of the monitor) they should send them out as soon as possible aka next business day, but they are more than happy to make you wait an unnecessary amount of time. When it eventually comes and if its faulty, I'm going to have a hard time deciding between a full refund and tell them to go stuff themselves or get another replacement and wait another 1week+ for no reason what so ever.

If you want something that's perfect in every way, go and buy a nice £2K NEC, not a budget offering.

For the money this monitor is excellent

Been considering this screen for a while now. unfortunately Iv missed the 40% deal (would have snapped it up right away if id notied)

How does it stack in comparison with other 1440p 27" monitors?

Same here :( It`s back on £529.99 now, oh well.

Anyone knows how this compares to the Dell UltraSharp U2711 27" which is £599 atm?

The U2711 has a better panel and more ports on the back of the monitor. However it does have a aggressive anti-glare coating which makes stuff look grainy and it has worse black and contrast levels.

I'm really struggling between the 2713HM, That ASUS PB278Q or the DGM.

The dell is the absolute extreme end of my budget. Is it worth the extra. The DGM is pretty decent and extremely cheap... but... dell... mmmm

Dangit.
