*** Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor @ £447.99 inc VAT ***

The monitor is great, but i'm gutted about a couple of things:

- It's might be too big for my actual needs (ie: 360 mainly!)
- Lack of audio inputs.
- The darn power button, is too sensitive at times.

Other than that the quality is great - still does not seem to be as nice as my old DGM PVA tho, but that could be down to the matt screen.
Lack of Audio inputs

Where do you think the audio sound going come out of ???

Out of the "Line Out" that they provide for the HDMI?! Just seem strange for have multiple input sources and no way to then pass audio thru?

Also seems like mine has the dreaded pink tint - noticed it heavily while in "Gaming" mode playing Fifa.

Going to give it until Sunday to see if it's a keeper or not for me.

This makes no sense mate. It's not a telly!

Maybe not to you, but for a device with multiple inputs it seems stupid "to me" to not have the ability to pass the audio on to another device as you do with the HDMI/DisplayPort connection.

Even if it was just another single 3.5MM input jack it would have been enough, would allow me to then pass all audio through the singal audio out.

I was really considering getting one of these but with all the reports of pink tinting and poor customer service it's kind of scared me off really. The worse thing is that there doesn't seem to be an equivalent monitor also without it's fair share of problems. May have to consider smaller screens. :(

MKAY is correct although you need to know the Dell works order and original purhcasing companies name without this dell will not replace the screen, even if the works order number is correct and the company name is not they reject it. I had the same problem with my 2408WFP

There's nothing dodgy about the stock they are most likely just hiding the source

What I'm thinking. And even if you pony up for an NEC or Eizo (which are now using IPS also) there's no guarantee you're not gonna have issues.

This is really doing my head in. I need a 24" with excellent colour reproduction/good contrast and no problems is it so much to ask :(

and looking at past history on these monitors is; problems dont seem to go away until Rev02 ish.

well i guess i'll have to be patient then and wait for some revisions to come out as i really want that dell due to it's guarantee. I wont be buying for a little while anyway so it's ok. I don't use my PC much whilst i'm on placement, but when i return to uni i'll want it then. If only NEC did a pixel perfect guarantee, i'd snap up that 23" in an instant.

Ok, so I just got this email from Dell. Prepare to be very concerned:

Dear Mr. ********

I did receive both your emails and did go through the forum. I have in fact had a word with the legal team here to understand what can be done in this regard to solve your problem as soon as possible. Unfortunately since this monitor was not purchased directly from Dell and because of the fact that you or Overclockers are not able to produce a Dell order number for this purchase, I regret to inform you that Dell is under no obligation to have this replaced for you.

I can understand your frustration but can’t figure out how you think Dell is at fault and not Overclockers, because they have not given you any warranty information and is asking you to go by what has been displayed in their website. In a month’s time if they take down that information from the site, what is the proof for warranty you will have.

As a customer of Overclockers, I would strongly recommend you to get in touch with them and have this dealt with.

If you can provide a Dell order number for this, we will be glad to check into it and help you in any way possible.

Dell values you as a customer, and would love to keep us our valuable customer, please be advised that once we have a valid order number from you we will look into it and do the needful.

If you would like to talk to my manager, please do let me know I can have him give you a call back.

As a community, should we be doing something to get this acknowledged by OCUK. We surely need them to jump in this forum and explain as they are not replying to my customer service queries. I have sent my u2410 back to OCUK for a replacement. Will that come with an order/works number label?

I am very upset about this whole experience.

probably referring to this :

i'm not sure about the 1080 res, otherwise 2 of these could be a sweet setup. plenty of screen real estate, for about £150 dearer than Dell.

Haven't used NEC before although supposedly they're some of the best screens you can get (just not for gaming cause of input lag - although that aspect doesnt concern me - can always hook up PC to a HDTV). I just need to know what the quality control is like on these screens. As for pixel perfect guarantee, i'm not sure any manufacturer offers this. Even Dell's 'zero bright pixels' thing sounds dubious. Fairly low chance of getting a stuck pixel anyhow...I have one on my current monitor and can honestly say I never see it unless the display is pure white and my nose is 2 inches off the screen. Just cant be dealing with panel uniformity issues like these dells seem to have....and dither....poor.

So we have no warranty? OCUK advertise one. Why are you all so calm?

What happened with your 2408wfp then?

You will have no warranty with Dell direct if OCUK do not provide you with the correct Dell works order and company name that purchased it.

I bought mine elsewhere and label is intact

Can I have confirmation please that some of you that have purchased this monitor from OCUK do in fact have the big label with the works number/order number.

I would appreciate this, thanks.

I bought mine elsewhere

Good shout!

I'm not touching a Dell monitor from OCUK until this is resolved (or I buy something else). I has this monitor in my basket yesterday, but chickened out. The hassle experienced here nullifies the advantage of the Dell warranty.

Credo, well done for saying that. what surprises me is that OCUK wont comment. They have told me the purchasing team are looking into it but there is something unusual about this.
