Destiny 2... It's a coming!

Do you guys think they will change their mind about no dedicated servers?

At the moment, that is the only reservation I have about the game.
Bungie explained their networking updates for D2 very poorly IMO, what they should have mentioned at the reveal is:

The primary change discussed is the moving of the Physics Host from the client to the server space.

Now, the Physics Host was the one mostly responsible for arbitration of the gameplay, that is deciding who shot who, etc. The problem is, the Physics host had a chance of being selected to run on a poor quality client (high latency/packet loss) which affected everyone's game resulting in many WTF moments. The lack of control over the physics host often led to very frustrating gameplay not just in PvP, but PvE as well.

So moving the physics host to dedicated infrastructure is an ideal compromise between fully dedicated server hosting, and (what I believe to be) a significant improvement over the old Destiny 1 system Sauce

The visuals looked great, but the actual gameplay looked boring.

Even I'm getting frustrating seeing the way some of the current footage is coming across. Very slow, awkward players who are hip firing all the things etc. I would say give the beta a chance, the gameplay is much better when you're in control!

Be easier this time around with guided games, plus on pc just shout in chat lfg vault of glass, whatever.

Lacking auto matchmaking doesn't make destiny crap, they should have made it easier sure.

As for grinding, this is a loot based FPS mmo type game (ish) - what do you expect? As I said above, this game isn't for everyone.

I read there won't be guided Games for hard mode? If so, why not? Just so long as I don't have to go to a website and sign in then post my lfg status just to play the damn game....

If matchmaking were available for hard mode raids the difficulty would have to be tuned down to make it playable. You have guided games for the normal mode so there's no problem. If you were serious enough about raiding to make a complaint here about the lack of matchmaking, you are serious enough to find a way to get a proper group together. It's trivial using tools to find a group that suits you.

The simple, hard cold truth is that the heroic raids in Destiny 1 would be impossible to do in matchmade groups, it's just how it is. You get people who have no clue joining in, people who deliberately try to ruin the runs, toxic people, squeekers, etc. The lack of matchmaking acts as a giant filter. It's too hard to be matchmade and that's the point of challenging content. Bungie doesn't want to deal with players getting pee'd off and frustrated that they can't do it because the strangers they're matching with are all kinds of stupid, abusive, whatever you name it.

You would not enjoy it.

Sorry but with hundreds of hours in destiny 1 and this argument doing the rounds for years ahead, it has been proven time and time again that such statements are a load of hogwash.

Every time I grouped in lfg on an app or forum it has been with "random", I don't know those guys, I don't really want to, and we have both succeeded and failed! So both are possible with matchmaking/randoms. I have also been locked out of content as I couldn't find anyone within the little time I had available to game!

That and only the destiny community would brag about the difficulty of the "raids", and then shortly after videos surface of "how to solo X raid" ha!!! They were never that difficult in the first place, D1 matchmaking would have been fine. Even for PoE. The reason I quit destiny 1 in the first place, and my friends too, was lack of ability to play with others on the fly.

This time it will be no different! If "guided grouping" is not available for the hard mode at all it will once again lock most people out of content. Optional always meant if you wanted to go in a guild and run trials with set groups it's ok, don't do matchmaking... You don't have to.

It's an age old argument I can see returning for D2. I will play it with one other friend, if he decides to get it, and if we are only 2 and cannot find a third member for the raid in a very fast period of time, it's yet another destiny that will go in the trash, unless the PvP is halo esque and not reliant on specific weapons.

It hasn't been proven at all, the amount of carries I've had to do in auto matchmaking games is beyond a joke.

It will be easier to find a 3rd on pc also it will no doubt have a chat function plus make some friends in the destiny thread for a regular 3rd?

Anyway, regardless of my opinion, or yours, or anyone else in this thread, it has matchmaking on normal and that's it, if this is game breaking for you then don't buy it and move on.

I'd say it was more of the majority of the player bases opinion as it continues to come up in random interviews and is the general consensus that D1 would have benefited unimaginably from matchmaking in whatever form. Carry or not, most raids were soloable up to prison of elders.

I'll buy it for pc to check out it's state, and then review it, but regardless the community will have its voice heard once again. If it's successful then fantastic, but the numbers of players in D1 speak for themselves. It was such a flop, everyone is hoping D2 won't make the same mistakes. It's just disappointing they keep spouting exactly the same response they had years ago... It's as if they haven't learnt. I guess we will have to see how difficult raids in"hard mode" really are, but im guessing not really that hard (again). I also predict that the community will be asking for matchmaking in the harder modes not long after release.

Read the post you quote before making an essay, I did spell out that LFG sites act as a major filter. The kind of players who use external LFG sites are the kind who would take the game seriously enough to do much better than any player who just hits 'matchmake' in game.

By the way, yesterday had 340,905 simultaneous players, if that was a Steam game it would be the third most played (more than PUBG and GTAV). So your 'it's a flop' post doesn't hold water either.

Flop? Now this has just turned into a delusional ramble.

It was a bit dull on release (for me personally) had a buckload of critical issues/problems that took a long time to get sorted to become the product it is now.

That is majorly impressive! ( bit in bold)

Bungie could have gone all out and made this multi-platform (in the sense we use bungie servers so let us all play together!).

Would have been great to have the one account for all platforms - I could play on the PC when I want the fancy graphics and previse control of mouse and keyboard, then jump on to the PS4/Xbone and continue from the couch when i cba.

Yeah yeah we get into the whole PC mouse/kbrd vs controller debates but I couldn't care less tbh - it's about time we started seeing titles multi-platform play.

btw - Theres some bloke called Venom I always used to have to carry through strikes - watch out for him ;)

Wait what haha :p Are you getting D2 zoomee?

I think guided games is a good step forward for those who need it, I imagine the intention for Heroic is that you find a team through Normal and stick with them through to Heroic. Match-making for the Hard raids would have been a complete fail, people would have queued having no idea what a raid is, not knowing how much time it would take, having trash gear, not having a mic etc. Saying LFG was random and that worked out fine doesn't compare. LFG is still controlled to some extent, it's your party chat and fireteam, you can look up the guy and check whether he has actually completed the raid before etc etc

I think Crota was the only "flop" raid, with the multiple cheeses and ability to solo it. Some of the challenge modes, while not crazy difficult enemy wise, did require a lot of communication with 6 players. LFG teams with 6 experienced players struggle with the tight timing on Heroic Aksis challenge mode, let alone having BarryNoScope420 YOLO'ing into Heroic matchmaking without a mic and a 1/3 unlocked Striker Titan equipped with a blue auto rifle

Your post is invalid soon as you said destiny 1 was a flop. It is in no way a flop at all weather you agree with its match making system or not.

Would I of liked it for raids yes but I can see reasons on both sides.
