Destiny 2... It's a coming!

Games like Doom 2016 and GTAV has horrendous input lag on the controller.

Oh, great. As I edge closer to getting a new gaming PC, I keep hearing little stories like this and I'm beginning to think is it even worth it? May as well stick to X1X. :p Both those games I'd be playing with a gamepad.

Just the Pve nature of this game means it's perfectly viable as a couch controller game to me. I'm glad it sounds like they have made it match the console version here then. I will of course try it with mouse but knowing I have the option to sit back on the couch on the big tv with no issue makes this even more attractive

Are we expecting mental server issues once the beta goes open? I assume I can't preload it for open beta?

It'll be available to download at 6pm UK time tonight. Blizzard App usually maxes out your connection and it's only 16GB so not too big.

Controller auto-aim is broken on PC at the moment. Lock on similar to that of GTA5 - never miss a shot.

Oh :( so currently it isn't the same as using a controller on the console version. I'd imagine that will be fixed especially for PvP sake

Yeah this needs fixing for PvP at least. Give it a try if you have a controller, you can ADS (aim down sight) in the general direction of an enemy and it'll instantly lock on their head. I'd consider myself a decent FPS player but that would probably explain why I was getting dicked on last night by people with hand cannons.

Read the part about Depth of Field in the conclusion. Will give it a try tonight.

We toggled a few settings between Highest and High, ultimately finding that the Depth of Field setting is responsible for about a 38% performance hit on its own, as switching to High boosts FPS from 38 to 62 AVG. 3DAO is responsible for about a 13% hit on its own, moving us to 44FPS from 38FPS AVG.

Anyone else not being given the option to preload it? Haven't bought it, was going to try out the open beta first. But i'm only being given pre purchase options at the moment.

To be honest that sort of sounds like how I remember destiny feeling on ps4, super snappy so maybe it's just how it is? not sure! Hope to have a go tonight :)

No pre-loads for open beta - just have to download it when it opens, at 6pm.

Someone using a controller with aim assist is going to be at an advantage against someone using a Mouse & KB (unless you're n0thing from Cloud9), in PvP at least. I couldn't care less in PvE.

I've got no problem with people using controllers, but make sure aim-assist is turned off for PvP, or put people who have it enabled against each other.

Completely agree pal, I would expect aim assist to auto off for PvP thus making it unplayable on the pad but I doubt they could do pad only matchmaking etc

I'd use mouse for the most part anyway, just for casual strike shenanigans I'd like to sit back and just slow through them

Just had another game of PvP on my lunch break. The change to 4v4 isn't that bad really.. But it plays so much nicer probably due to the FPS.

Completely new to the destiny. I like halo and I like the division so have been told I’d like this as it’s a mix of them both. Is that an accurate description? Any tips I should know?

Kind of accurate. I loved Destiny and found The Division super boring after 20 or so hours yet I got near 1000 hours out of Destiny.

TD did a few things better (I really like how you physically walk to instances/story missions and can group up) but I found when I was playing The Division I constantly thought "oh it's like Destiny" and that ended up pushing me back.

They both have bullet sponges but the bullet sponges in Destiny are easier to look past when you're blasting a heavily armoured Space Rhinos and not a hooded thug.

Download it tonight at 6pm and give it a go! If you're a fan of the Halo series I think you'll get along with D2.

Going to give this a go when it opens, reading quite a lot of angry reddit posts about controller aim assist and how it is actually much stronger than the consoles version.
