Destiny 2... It's a coming!

Would like to add for everyone else that the ingame vsync option is doing weird stuff on my gsync enabled system. Framerate will be locked dead to 165(hz of monitor) but if drops happens it halves to 82, so for me atleast gsync is broken here unless i turn it off(ingame vsync option that is) in which case gsync works as it should.

Yep, I have a 144hz g-sync panel and turned the in game v-sync off.

The strike was fun and definitely an improvement on the bullet-sponge strikes in D1. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. The sheer scale of the area in the strike is what took me by surprise. It's so vast.

The story mission and strike were both much better put together compared to what I can remember of D1.

Well of everyone i'm playing with, only 1 person has ever played destiny before. All of them love it.

As I said before, the lack of common sense when it comes to assessing a game is odd, I don't understand it.

It's such a tiny sample size available so all you can personally assess is the following

- does it feel responsive and enjoy the overall feel/style of the game
- visually pleasing
- can you get behind a sci fi shooter with bullet sponge enemies

You've hit the nail on the head there, it's not going to be for everyone, but if you're ok with shoot-to-loot then its worth a try.

@labbby Still hard to tell exactly what will happen in full release, but it will be a split between:
- Free-roam on the planets (with NPCs, various quests, dungeons, objectives, public events etc)
- Social spaces with NPCs, vendors, storage etc
- Full story set of missions
- Instanced PvE strikes, raids
- Instanced PvP

In a nutshell (this information is freely available online / via youtube vids / IGN previews):

- Main storyline with multiple missions (ala Halo)
- Hub / Social space with MMO like features (shops, quest givers, bounties etc)
- 4 x Patrol zones (split by planet) with multiple quests, missions, secrets etc
- Separate Strike playlists which cycle through all available strikes (assuming this is like D1 and the strikes will have various difficulty levels)
- Crucible playlists (again assuming it is like D1 then there will be multiple options available)
- End game raid (s) available through the director (in D1 they were selected via the planet screen) - these are 6 player co-op activities with multiple objectives.

Thanks Lacky. I remember playing The Division beta (so called server stress test). And that totally sucked me in and gave me a real feel for what the full game would be about. This beta is a bit confusing for the PC gamers, like myself, that never played the first Destiny. Glad to hear there should be some social spaces and free roam.... my interest has peaked again.

Lacky covered it (and since owen). But why would you ask for a clue on a game thats been out for 3 years  plus, this game is released in a week - just be patient, this will get a load of coverage and detailed analysis with more than enough information for you.

It's a forum lol. No offence but there seems to be some very sensitive D1 fan boys on here. It's a forum for discussion that's all. Rather than go after someone with this why not be constructive... Lets not forget D1 wasn't exactly praised for content when it came out. Some of us would just like to know information on how the first one actually was and how it ended up content wise. I tend not to follow most youtubers becasue they tend to get "flown out to events" by game publishers and offer a "totally unbiased" view :D

If you see my first post further up I benchmarked my R5 1600 (@3.8) / GTX 1070 @ 1440p max settings (FXAA). Overall average was around 85FPS with no drops below 60FPS.

(This was the entire first mission from the moment you saw the flagship to the end cut scene).

I imagine with a mix of medium and high settings that 60FPS should be do-able on a 1070 at 4K.

Missed your post! Thanks for the info it sounds like a great port considering what we could have been given

Looking forward to having a go

No worries. Yeah I get that, I also got sucked in by The Division beta. That was different, as they basically opened up the start of the game, which helped set the scene and get that loot addiction / character progression going. Destiny 1 did something similar with their beta, which kind of backfired because they basically opened the first 1/4 of the game including the free roam on 2 planets. The butchered story didn't help either and its one of the main reasons D1 got slated at the start. I think they have learnt their lesson, hence why we have such a teaser beta this time. The downside is that people who have come in fresh on PC to try out D2 maybe a little confused / underwhelmed, when in reality it looks like we're getting some great content.

Ah nice one lacky that's exactly what i was after ty mate.

I know it's a dirty word but has anyone tried it with a controller? They nailed the shooting on console with a controller, it felt amazing so I am hoping this carries across the same support like for like that they implement in to the console version?

Get out. Now.

The game feels SO good without Autoaim, why would you want to go back to the pads. I think part of the reason Destiny felt so good on console was because it was 30fps. Pads with 60fps... no thanks.

No.. havent.. and i'm not going to either :) but i would fully understand if someone was going to give it a go considering D2s roots. To be honest the current recoil or lack thereof would suggest to me that it's balanced around the controller. The only gun so fare i'm enjoying is the handcannon as it has a bit of a kick to it where as every automatic rifle has dead on aim with recoil that could be controlled by a toddler. a bit disappointing really.

I played with controller in PvE and PvP and i destroyed with both to be honest.

Game feels great regardless of what controller you choose.

I've used both XB1 and DS4 controllers and use M&K and when it comes to using controllers it feels the exact same as console.

Ofc you're going to have faster reflexes and better aim with M&K but i've put 1000+ hours into destiny 1 with controller and people online that i can tell are using M&K aren't very good atm.

I expect that to change when the full game arrives to be honest as time gets on people well get more used to it with M&K.

I play it on the 4k tv with a controller, the Destiny feel is still there. 100% supported. It plays really well with nvidia's vsync, there's no input lag whatsoever, which was one of the things I was worried about for a while. Games like Doom 2016 and GTAV has horrendous input lag on the controller.

People who like Destiny loves it.
People who never played Destiny hates it. It's Bungie's own fault, they turned off loot and progression in the beta and gave the beta characters endgame weapons and armor, and now everyone thinks it's a dull game with no content. The beta just isn't reflective of what the game is about at all, I don't know what Bungie was thinking. It's like saying here's Sunday roast dinner! And all you get are garden peas. And now everyone thinks Sunday roast dinners are all just garden peas and they don't know why people love Sunday roast dinners.

Yep what would have been better was if they turned on the loot and let you level up a dozen or so levels.
