I think we wiped once or twice getting the chest at the start and then blitzed through the rest of it until up until Crota. We'll have a good crack at him next time.
Nice to finally get a decent drop as well, although these gauntlets are a bit too pointy for my liking

Should be OK for me but likely to be more like 8 gloves and chest for me so can't complain

Just watched a video and it actually looks really straightforward. We just all stick together at the top of the stairs on the left hand side (looking at Crota) and focus fire when needed (Knights/Swordbearers/Ogres/Crota). 3 hits with the sword x2 for each sword that spawns and he should go down with 3 swords (4 at the very most).
I think we wiped once in the first section, then did the bridge and Deathsinger at first attempt. Just need to nail down a working strategy for Crota and we can start blitzing through this raid in about 45 mins!
I just need gloves to have a full set of raid armour, and then I can start running it over and over again to get shards! Woo!
Worked out the damage difference tonight for weapons in crotas end. For anyone thinking vision of confluence is still good to use against crota, the VoC was hitting 605 against a 32 red knight, while the FWC scout with identical impact, range etc stats but 331 attack was hitting for 698.
BIG difference in damage to swordbearers, oversoul, crota shields and even adds in general if half the team are using 300 weapons. As it sits around 15% less damage!
Looks like its worth buying newer attack primaries if you want to do crota levels easier.

Aye, looks like my AR will be my primary in CE as there's hardly any Fire shielded fiends... A lot less than I expect it anyway.

We blitzed the first parts so once we get a feel for the crota timing it shouldn't be too bad.

How about tonight?
I'm up for running Urzok / Nightfall / Weekly on my Titan Alt, along with running Vog Normal for Shards / Energies if anyone is up for it? Available from 1800.
I played alongside a bunch of guys and voc is perfect for this with a 31 character. The reason being is predictable dps on crota shield. Timing is everything and if you can all fire with voc and work him down all the while shouting out his shield percentage (75, 50, 25, 10) the sword man can time it perfectly and get 5 good hits in.
The key is timing for the sword strikes, not attack damage, so DPS is key. This was proven when I was trying to shoot crota with a sniper while everyone else was on voc. The combined DPS was just unpredictable for the sword man. Alternatively, it can be done with rockets, but that is even harder to hit right with timing for the sword man, much luck needed!
I wonder if that's where we're going wrong, out strategy is sound with Si. and I on either side, focusing on knights till Sword man is ready, then all fire on Crota. Crota is always downed before the swordsman rush in from behind.
This gets 2 hits, three if we're lucky but not enough time for him to GTFO.
