*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

We still have the Oryx checkpoint if you want to finish that one off. EDIT: I can run tonight from 8-11:30.

We finally managed to get the Rabbits to stop fighting at midnight last night.... Nearly 5 hours....

Came down this morning to find them all cuddled up as if nothing had happened.

Right so earlier today, with some randoms managed to get past the deathsingers checkpoint. Wasn't too difficult is the mechanics of it, took us about 2 wipes before we nailed the pair of them.

Couldn't get Oryx down, kept glitching on us for some odd reason is he wouldn't flinch when he was meant to. Tbh I didn't really understand what to do but there were another 2 that were doing it the first time.

Saying that I got the solar shotty, along with a 304 cloak. Also got the shrouds for the quest, just need to nail oryx and get the ravenous heart and at least those 2 raid quests are done iirc.

Big thank you to all the guys who dragged me through my first ever Kings Fall raid last night (first ever raid full stop, despite playing from day one!).

So hats off to Zoomez, Turbo, Dredd, Hooded, AStaley and Cleetus for the patience, explaining the mechanics so clearly and pretty much carrying me through the whole thing. Got me hooked on raiding now, loved every minute of it (well, apart from the glitchiness on Oryx that screwed us over a few times).

Got some decent drops and now up to 304. Many, many thanks :D

Jammy git! :)

Hope we didn't overdo it with the banter lol - we get carried away sometimes us lot

We're all pretty relaxed and don't taking raiding too seriously - its only a game after all. Was fun, glad we actually finished it as sometimes frustration and tiredness can set it and the odd boss can be a sticking point.

So many bugs still in the oryx raid - we had to jump out to orbit to finally get it manageable!

Yeah, I'd be up for that. Shall we say 8?

Just want to say thanks to the guys who dragged me through last night, really enjoyed it. Pretty sure I have all the mechanics down fairly well now :)

Thanks again.

Managed to get another run in on my warlock today with a few of the guys. So he's over 300 as well now.

Top bunch. Apart from dredd for swording me off ledges on one of the jumpy bits, haha. I'm getting used to the banter, I'm usually a bit quiet as it's still new to me so Im concentrating, although I did manage to screw up on warpriest a couple of times today. Even then there was no moaning or complaints, just a case of **** happens so we go again.

From being a raid virgin to doing 2 in 3 days (and I didn't half get some grief off the Mrs today, lol). Need to get ToM now, that gun is a beast on the bosses.

Probably won't be on tonight chaps spending time with the missus, just wanted to stop by and say good run last night. Whole thing went very well, took a little bit of time on the Deathsingers but it's to be expected with new peeps. Well done anyway, be back on tomorrow night.

It was a good run :D and to be honest what a raid should be, a laugh and bit of fun no elitist BS, and beyond making a few mistakes it can take a few runs for the mechanics/timing to gel, but we get there in the end :p
ToM is a beast on the sisters/Oryx, just waiting to hear bungie announce a nerf to it as we're not doing the boss as intended :p

yea its a laugh and a half with us lol like you say mate if someone screws up we done care after all its just a game, and as turbo says no elitist bs helps. same time next weekend then lol, i really think we could get a sub hour run in though :p

Thanks and I mean a huge thanks to gimp, kwjay, Thor and the others who I can't remember for finally giving me the chance to finish my very first Kings fall raid. Made the end bit look so easy. Took us about 15mins to nail Crota's dad :p. Didn't put up that much of a fight as I was expecting more. But still glad to get my first one done and now at 303 light so pretty happy with that.

So now I just have to find the last fragment to get ToM and either I do it with the tier3 oryx court boss or do that silly worm stink platform jumping at the Mausoleum within a minute.

Also thanks to gimp and jay for helping me try to nail the tier3 court of oryx boss so I could get that final fragment but just wasn't meant to be. As in we couldn't get enough damage on him and I guess everyone was a bit tired from the raid.

Might try it again tonight if anyone wants to join me?? Feel free to send me an invite or put your names down. Obviously the higher light heavy weapons you have the better as it would make it easier to get him done. I'm far from being elitist lol :p

He's a big kitten once you get the hang of him!

Glad we were able to help!

The stink platform is much easier if you can grab 2 others to stand on the platforms for you (so you have less chance of falling down the hole!)

No problem at all - glad you got him beat. :) You'll now need to jump in on a full run and perhaps take one of the other roles to get the full experience.

Oryx is actually really straightforward, possibly even the easiest of the bosses as there's not a great deal of opportunity for you to take any serious damage. As long as everyone sticks to their role and doesn't make any major mistakes, it's a really simple but enjoyable encounter.

The first time running this raid though, at each new boss I was thinking it was basically impossible! It's crazy the difference once you understand the mechanics. Bring on hard mode! :D

Btw, I'm happy to help you get the tier3 done tonight. Send me an invite if you'd like a hand. I would've helped out last night but I assured my gf I wouldn't be on for too long :p

I think we're all going to be humbled a bit when hard mode drops, Bungie obviously seem very confident in what they've got by bringing the release of it forward. Two simple changes that would make the Oryx fight a nightmare is making the relic runner random like the Deathsingers and adding major Taken Captains into the mix but something tells me they haven't stopped there.

Glad you managed to get this done. I am still waiting to complete this so if anyone fancies it give me a shout and we can continue from the death singers checkpoint.

Happy to help out with CoO if you want to do it tonight before boss's change over.

The scent one is a pig to do, although it is doable solo it really is about timing and trying to reduce the amount of time you have the ghost open to reveal the platforms (as well as have max agility and hold a weapon with agility boast to help move that little bit quicker). Although having people on the platforms usually helps. As long as you can get to the final section with around 12 seconds to spare you should be able to open up the chest.

I hope it's more than that because even though I have always done the jumping during Oryx, it's pretty straight forward once you've had two or three goes! More major Taken Centurions and Captains would be a pain but I'm hoping it's more about mechanics, than anything else.

In particular the 'bombs' stage is a strange bit of downtime which there could be more to. The Echo could also be mixed up a bit. One thought I had was that people that had held the relic couldn't go into the blight, and with the relic runner rotating, the last people to go in would have more pressure to kill the Echo themselves (ie only 3 of them).

I always have a good laugh when I get chatting to the OcUK lot. Only ever do it once a blue moon though.

Forgot the names of the guys I was playing destiny with ages ago, but they was a good grin with their quick witted responses.

I think it is safe to say hard mode will be more and/or higher level enemies and more yellow bars but hopefully there will be some mechanic changes too.

I know there is a group of us running hard mode but anyone up for one or two normal runs this week? I have got my hunter up to 296 so can run normal on hunter and titan keeping my warlock fresh for HM. How about;

Indeed, I'm always happy to jump in if you guys need another for a full run. My only issue is with the jumping puzzles ie the ships and the piston ones but I've pretty much nailed the ships one. So you will have to bear with me on the piston one lol but I think I know it.

Yes you guys were right when u said the oryx fight was the easiest part of the raid, I thought the deathsingers was the easiest tbh. But now at least I have a fairly good idea as to how the mechanics work on the raid as a whole. I may need a refresher here and there but otherwise I think I've got it nailed.

I should be online later tonight so I may call on you Thor for the tier3 fight if you are able to help.

But again thanks for taking me through the end fight, your instructions were thorough and I remember you explaining VoG raid to me when I did it first time.

Looking forward to joining u guys again for another raid :)
