*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

I kinda prefer doing the non-heroic strikes....get a few people with exotic swords and you can blast through them in no time. Knock them out in 10 minutes on average....just right for three of coins cooldown.

Although annoyingly I missed Xur so I'm out of coins....bah. Did get one last 310 drop which infused my ruin wings to 310 so all good.
 
Yeah apart from the legendary marks the heroic strikes are somewhat pointless as the drops are essentially identical (bar the guaranteed legendary on the first heroic run).

Last couple of nights I have been doing some legacy strikes. Nice to face off against Phogoth / Nexus once again. (The Nexus particularly still hits like a truck at level 20).
 
Good fun last night with the legacy raids ie Crota and VoG. Took us literally half hr each to nail both Crota and atheon lol. Sleeper'd to death :p. Jammy git that kwjay was, managed to get a good drop even though he was sat at the start of the jumping bit. Was good fun revisiting the legacy raids but with the new weapons, the bosses get smashed within minutes :p.

Gimp and you lot owe me a few runs on the tier 3 court of oryx btw :p:D

Did 2 runs last night on VoG so that's 11 runs on that raid now, and still no Vision of Confluence :( Jay is indeed the jammiest of jammy gits. I did get ANOTHER Gjallarhorn drop tho :o

Ah I thought they nerfed the suros? I have 2, one upgraded and one standard.
 
Suros was hit with the original AR Nerf bat but has recently been buffed by the 2.0 patch (along with all AR's).

Use spinning up (which gives the stability it once had back) instead of focused fire and it can mow through enemies quite easily/quickly. (Note - this applied to the Yr2 one only).

TBH though even with the buff AR's are still relatively "meh"* in PVP. Pulse rifles are the new dominant weapon of choice.


*That said I have had some good fun in the daily PVP playlist with AR's.
 
Sadly pulse rifles just vastly outperform auto rifles at the moment, there's no 2 ways about it. Suros Regime and Answering Chord are your best options I think.
 
I really hope AR's don't get any better, with PRs you at least have to aim and it takes some skill, ARs can easily have almost no recoil then you just follow someone. Thanks too the high fire rate its pretty easy to drop people.

I think one of the issues I'm seeing right now with Destiny is that due too a lack of tier'd damage (upper body being worth more then shooting someone toe) people can just spray at any body part and drop you very quickly, instead of rewarding someone for taking the time to try and aim for a better part of someone body.
 
How do the drops work in CoO. Is it still limited to lvl300 if you are under that and 310 if you are over. I am really struggling to get over 295 without raiding and I felt pretty underpowered when I tried the raid at that level especially as a hunter.
 
I think so yeah, I was 295/296 Hunter on my run through on Sat. I wasn't doing as much dps as the other guys, but didn't really struggle with any of the adds, you should be ok with a good team. I really need a new ghost shell mine is still 280, really holding my light level back! Any advice guys?

I know how you feel, getting to 296 was a real drag, I have had 1 300 blue drop and that's all, hence why I want to go raiding with these fine gents

The only items you can get above 300 are exotics (once you're 300+ overall) and raid items (or items linked to quests for completing the raid, such as the 310 artifact).

295 is definitely high enough to be completing the raid. I wouldn't bother trying to grind any higher than that as it'll take a huge amount of effort to move up 1 or 2 levels max. Run the raid once, get a couple 300+ items, pick up the 310 artifact, and you'll probably walk away at 300+ overall light.

Drops in CoO max out at 300. The only place currently to get over that is the raid (Exotics decoding at 310 once you are over 300 aside).

295 is absolutely fine for the raid. My first two times through with Moody (hunter) was at around 293-296 and I had no real issues - besides the lack of drops.... DPS was lower but not drastically so (only Orxy is at 300, the rest of the raid caps at 290).

I'm sure I speak for everyone in our usual raid groups when I say I would have no issue having you in the line-up at <300.
 
I just need a better ghost to go up a few light levels. My ghost is at 286 and everything else is 296 or higher.
 
I don't suppose there are enough people knocking about for another raid party on PS4. I have done bits of the raid but only the first bit up to the big door with runes on it and then a little of Oryx at the end.
 
Current scheduled ones are full up I think....just post a date and time that works for you and there'll more than likely be people able to fill it as there's plenty of alts around now.
