I ended up bumping into a bunch of 4 randoms outside the vault trying to form the spire (and failing) I helped them get it open, they waved to say thanks and they went on their way. They eventually chucked me an invite because they were stuck on the Templar, we breezed through all that because I was the relic holder (I was forced into the role, which was not really a problem for me I just wasn't given the choice).

Eventually we get to the Gatekeeper and again they won't touch the relic, they wouldn't even come through the portal with me to help get it, it ended up with me and a mate having to go through both portals and grab both of them. We got past that part and on to the final boss where again I'm forced into the relic holder role, but this time I eventually refused after a few failures because they weren't shooting the oracles and I also did way more damage to Atheon then any of them with my fully upgraded Gjallarhorn (which has 8 rockets total) and if I've got the relic I am doing zero damage to Atheon.

Anyway we failed because to put it simply they're idiots who didn't help or listen and I regret even going with them because it was more or less because of me that they even got that far in the first place. I also had to laugh when it was us getting the blame for the failures because they couldn't and wouldn't use the relic. I eventually got fed up and left because there was no helping them and these were all level 29's too.

tl:dr I have an Atheon checkpoint on normal if people need it or I wouldn't mind a helping hand from people who are more co-operative and know what they're doing, that way it can be done in 10-15 minutes if everything goes well. (On PS4)

I regret nothing! :D

I couldn't believe it though. I get warped through because they couldn't do their bit and then they just stare at me until i pick up the ruddy relic. They then start getting destroyed and start crying for me to use the thing when its half charged.

I just ended up sitting going....

Was pretty pleased at everything else I managed to do although the jump section was a bit sketchy until I got my super.

There is an extra space in mine now, my friend has fatherly duties to attend to and has had to postpone.

we tried to do the raid last night on our alt characters again last night and breezed through it, up until Atheons room.

We normally do the portal / gatekeepers first time but it must have taken us an hour. Combination of new person playing with us for the first time, and most of us on our lower level characters and our relic holder on level 26 and their character no longer suitable for the role as the game had capped their damage due to being level 26.

We definitely missed you. Would be happy to give hard mode a try on our primary characters again this week if you're free ?

26 is high enough but 27 makes things easier, 28 even easier. I think all the elites that spawn at Gatekeepers/Atheon are level 27 so having a level disadvantage can be a problem unless your guns are up to scratch.
 
Well last night was a bit hectic to say the least!

Had a hard checkpoint for Atheon and spent about 20 minutes solo to push him off. Was awarded with the raid helmet, raid hard ship, 4 shards and the Vex Mythoclast :D

Following this rip roaring success I decided to help out others in need. A full team of 6 took us about 2 hours to push him off. So many close attempts it hurt. Multiple times we choked on the final grenade, but we persevered and got there in then. I think a couple of people got the helmet but that was about it!

Then I did it a third and final time with Maxilive, which only took a couple of attempts and we had it done.

If anyone else has the raid hard checkpoint and requires assistance on Friday, let me know. I think I've got it down to a fine art now. Having more than one warlock definitely helps, but it's easily manageable with just myself!

EDIT: hopefully the patch doesn't magically hit by Friday night. I won't be around tonight to assist with this!
